2020.11.30 22:44 Birdygamer19 SMG4 Analysis Megapost (ft. r/Nivelacker) (2/2)

Here we are with the last of this Megapost, and again, I want to give a shout out to u/Nivelacker for all of this and it was an honor to support the legendary legendariness of classical SMG4 and without a further ado...
Take it away, Nivelacker
"Part 5: To make everyone happy...
As I have said, and you certainly know, the community cannot agree on what version of Smg4 they like. I have made it very clear that I like classic more, and have been providing instructions for bringing it back. However, it would displease those who like this show the way it currently is, should it occur. I pondered this dilemma for a time, and have come to a conclusion to it as well.
To make everyone happy...
Classic and modern Smg4 will have to become separate.
I truly mean this. It's not fair for half of the community to be discontent with the show, and therefore, both sides must be supported if we want to make everyone happy. The solution is simple: Create another channel, and make it for classic Smg4. The original channel will continue to be the way it currently is, while the new channel will be an alternate universe, in which some episodes are changed, others are retconned entirely, and new episodes will be made that are exclusive to this new timeline.
The instructions provided before, during, and after this part will apply to the new channel only. I know that this may seem daunting, but it's the only way to make things fair for everyone. The rest of this part will be spent explaining how the classic Smg4 universe will be different from the normal one, starting with the retcon/rewrite system.
To keep the portrayals of the different characters consistent with part 3 and the new timeline, older episodes that feature them may or may not have to be altered, or removed from the timeline completely. If you decide to go through with this, I can go through the last few seasons of Smg4 and decide which episodes will be changed, which will be removed, and which will remain unaltered. I can assist with the changes that should be made to each episode as well, though both will take time. For a while, writing the new timeline will be the main focus of the channel, releasing old episodes in order of release (yes, even the ones you made private), along with the remade ones, before making completely new ones.
You can keep your other channels safe from Susan's wrath by playing by the rules if you want, but you'll have to go against the rules for the AU (alternate universe) channel to truly be a haven for classic Smg4. Since you have nothing to lose by breaking the laws on a channel separate from your other ones, you can surely do this. This new channel will gain a huge amount of subscribers very quickly once things get up and running. You can occasionally mention the AU channel in your other videos, just to make sure new fans can try both versions of your show.
One of the many things that will be retconned will be the permanent deaths of Desti and Greg. Since death is not the end, it wouldn't make much sense for them to be forever fallen in this timeline. Don't get me wrong, killing off characters is an important part of storytelling, but in a universe where story isn't a focus, and death was never important in the first place, it simply doesn't belong. I'd leave those two dead if this were a story-driven show, but it isn't, so I won't. As for the stories themselves...
The story arcs will still exist, though there will have to be changes made to avoid losing the tone of the show. The biggest alteration off the top of my head would probably be in the Waluigi Arc, as it will be made much shorter than it was before. For instance, there will only be one outbreak of the T-pose virus, and it will be a combination of the two from the original story. Many episodes will have to be retconned from the arcs to avoid making them last too long and weigh too hard on the story.
and now, the topic many have been waiting for: Character development. Character development will be mostly removed from the show, as most characters don't need it. Many people fight over which version of Meggy was better, between her inkling and human forms. In this AU, Meggy will not become human, so this war can finally end now that both sides have what they want. (In case you're wondering, the reason she doesn't become human in this version is because the Ink Zuccer will kill her instead. Since death is not the end, this will not be the end for her.) Like death, character development doesn't fit into classic Smg4, simply because it gets in the way of the comedy. Emotional moments can still happen, and some changes can be made, but they will mostly be absent.
While you add your own original characters to the main series to avoid a copyright strike from Nintendo, they don't fit classic Smg4. I don't think Nintendo wants to officially associate themselves with your channels, anyway. One of the main reasons why the show was funny was because it used iconic characters in ways that they would never otherwise be used in and put them into stories that they would never otherwise be in. That's why I rewrote the OCs to fit with the other characters.
Lastly, the animation style should be what it once was: Some sm64, but mostly gmod for the locations, specific model choices for each character, and sprites can be used frequently. Professional animation may look nice under most circumstances, but these are not the those circumstances. Poorly animating models by making them flop around complimented the show, due to how stupid it looks. True animation should be very rare, during scenes such as when Mario is actually being competent in battle, curbstomping his foes in the process (Like that scene in If Mario Was in Splatoon). I'll elaborate even more in the next part.
I cannot stress enough how much would change in this community if the wars ended. Who knows? Maybe after you finish Meta Runner season 2, and the first season of that Meggy-centric show, you might be able to make this become real. In the penultimate part, I'll discuss the rules for animation, as well as the locations that should be used most.
Part 6: Why bad animation is good, and the locations of the show.
The animation of Smg4 is yet another important aspect of it, and I find that modern Smg4 uses more professional animation than classic (and by that I mean there's actual animation at all). The badly animated scenes seem to fit the show more, as they go perfectly with the absurdities. Instead of giving characters normal walking cycles, just make their models drag along the ground as you shake them a little bit. Throwing the characters at the places they're trying to go will always be more amusing than showing them run or walk. Each character has different rules for their animation styles, and I will provide some different types of styles to make it easier to categorize them.
SM64: Characters with this style will mostly use their SM64 models to do things, and the vast amount of animations, as well as the many interchangeable expressions, makes this a very volatile style.
Gmod (ragdoll): This character will mostly use their Gmod model, and will mostly just flop around to create the illusion of moving. Moving specific polygons on a model, throwing the model, and controlling the model by player also counts as this style.
Gmod (animated): Like the previous style, except with real animation. Real walk cycles, scripted movements, and physically correct interactions with the environment are the three main components of this style.
Images/Gifs: Sprites, animated or otherwise will be used to represent the character. Many different ones will be used, of course.
Those are all four styles. Since most important characters aren't restricted to one style, each one will have a ratio for how often each style is used. The ratios will look like this: (SM64):(Gmod ragdoll):(Gmod animated):(Images/Gifs). I will only make ratios for characters that this matters for, as many characters don't need consistent animation styles to be properly represented. The characters with special rules will be labelled with this symbol (?!). The list:
Mario: 3:1:0:1
Luigi: 3:2:0:2
Smg4: 8:2:0:1
Meggy: 0:2:5:0
Tari: 0:3:4:0
Saiko: 0:1:1:0
Toad: 7:3:0:2
Peach: 5:2:0:1
Bowser: 6:1:0:3
Fishy Boopkins: 0:5:0:1
Bob: 0:1:0:0
Yoshi: 1:2:0:1
Leet Police: 9:1:0:0
Mr. Monitor: 0:4:1:0
Wario/Waluigi: 5:3:0:1
Swag/Chris: 0:2:3:0 (?!)
Smg3: 5:1:0:0
Shroomy: 0:1:0:0
Steve: 0:1:0:0 (?!)
Desti: 0:1:3:0
The Mario recolors: 6:1:0:0
Jub-Jub: 0:1:0:0
Whimpu: 0:1:0:0
Belle: 0:1:3:0
Rob: 0:1:0:0
Melony: 0:1:0:0
Frankie: 1:0:0:0
Toast Guy: 1:2:0:0
Bowser's minions: 2:5:0:3
...And that's pretty much it. Most other characters have only one style, due to being background characters. Steve, along with Swag and Chris, should be animated by making footage for their original forms the same way you do for characters that use SM64 models. Steve gets a 3 for his Minecraft form, while the two former guards get a 4 for their Goldeneye 64 forms (these numbers are in relation to their ratios, and function as their own styles).
Now for locations. I'll provide a paragraph for each important one.
Princess Peach's castle is the most iconic location of this entire show, and it should be important to many episodes, being the location of major events about half of the time. While most events should happen in the main room of the castle on the first floor, they can occur elsewhere. Sometimes the only changes to the scenery needed to make an episode feel like an adventure is to have the protagonists go to different parts of the castle, possibly never leaving it at all, though that last part is not recommended in most cases. I think that the paintings around the castle should be able to function as TVs, just as they used to. Peach can explain that the portals throughout the castle can be deactivated to make the paintings act as TVs. The portals that aren't paintings can't be used as TVs when deactivated, only acting as the objects they are disguised as. These few things can bring back an old joke, close a couple plot holes related to it (how were the paintings able to be used as both portals and TVs, and how can people break/be thrown out of the window in the computer room when it's also a portal), and open the next location on this list.
The portal worlds (or as they're officially known, the courses of Super Mario 64) are where Bowser's minions are usually stationed, and are also where Mario usually ends up having to go when Bowser kidnaps the princess. For other uses, these worlds can be a good place to have things happen without the police getting involved, as the worlds can only be accessed by their portals, which are in the castle, and no sound can get through the portals. Perhaps Yoshi could be selling drugs to the residents of the worlds, as he'll never be caught for the previously explained reason. A place where unwanted attention is absent may be more useful in this show than you'd think.
That unnamed city (I'll call it Mushroom City) that the characters frequently visit is also important, as what better place is there than in the middle of public to cause chaos? I don't really have anything to say about this place, actually. Mushroom City's just another place to frequently visit, due to how many different locations there are here.
Bowser's castle is where most things involving Bowser (when he's not trying to get the princess or compete in something) would occur. The map that was made in SM64 before being rendered in Gmod is best for its outside, while anything else would do for the interior. I bought this place up because you don't really use it anymore.
The racetrack maps are the go-to choices for any competitions, mostly kart racing though. An important thing to note is that according to your older videos, Peach's castle is right next to Royal Raceway, so it may be a good idea to take that into account.
The Mario Bros. house is already used quite often in the series, but I wanted to mention it regardless. Their basement isn't used very often, which is fine, just don't forget it's there to use.
That's it for the should-be main sets of classic Smg4. While they are important, they are not the only places to host an episode, I just talked about the iconic ones. Take a look at your older videos to decide which places should also be common locales. Part 7 is the last.
Part 7: The dream's translation to reality, the greatest joke of all, and you.
I wrote part 1, intending to make two more. But after I made part 2, I thought I still had to make two more. After part 3, I had to make three more. At last, after part 5, I deemed 7 to be the final amount. Here we are in the final part. I made there be seven parts because I have said all I needed to, but not all I wanted.
When I found a post on the subreddit of someone giving their opinion, I didn't think much of it. I said I agreed, provided a paragraph supporting us both, and moved on to the next. I received a reply, so I replied to them with more examples, debating the true nature of the show. I asked if this assessment we were making would be worthy of making a post for; he said that I should make a complete version of it. I then saw the opportunity to make my dream come true at last.
Birdygamer19 is the username of my partner (at the time of writing) in all of this, and none of it would have ever been written if it weren't for him. He had his opinions, but he was open to new ideas. While he preferred one side, he didn't actively oppose the other. Through the miscommunications and delays, he always understood, and our cooperation was what let us make this part of the dream real. I may have wrote most of this post, but this post wouldn't be here if he wasn't. I have come to my conclusion on you: You're the kind of person that should be more prevalent on the internet, to put it lightly. Thank you for everything.
As for me, I've been wanting to bring back what Smg4 was known for for about a year at this point. I couldn't present my proposition (not enough post karma), so I didn't even bother writing it. Then, I encountered my now-trusted friend, and I was able to begin bringing my dream to life. Over five days, I wrote the parts. One each day, except for the last two days, where I did two parts on both, including this one. The following day, the whole thing was posted. I don't want to come to any conclusions about myself, as the worst critic of any person is always themselves.
The funniest part of this whole dream, is that it still may not come true. After all, the Hobo Bros. would have to agree with this, and they may not ever even see it. That's so wrong, but that's why it's funny.
In the end, it doesn't matter to me. Of all the possibilities that can come true, this isn't one that must. I may want everyone in this community to be happy, but that doesn't mean they ever will be. I just wanted to be able to say I tried. Making an effort is what matters most on the internet, as you're never garunteed to succeed either way. I just have some stuff to say to both Luke and Kevin, before I move on from this for real.
You both have changed the lives of several million people with Super Mario Glitchy 4. I don't think either of you knew that you would get that far back when Smg4 first started. So many lives would be different without you, including mine. I know that you both mean well, and that's why you have made the decisions you made. I mean well too, wanting everyone to have what they want from Smg4. That's why I wanted there to be two timelines, to please everyone. Now then...
To Luke and Kevin Lerdwichagul, Thank you both for making your dream come true.
See ya."
Thanks again u/Nivelacker for a wonderful analysis. Once again, its an honor. Make sure you follow him or chat with him if you have specific questions.
And a friendly reminder: DONT. HUMP. MELONS🍉

Why Do You Need A Local Business Directory?
https://preview.redd.it/ar497bpr85161.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=5666f13cdfadabc4811feb2078a1aac29e582088
Did you know that before visiting a shop, 79 percent of clients conduct research online? It's no surprise that companies that have a strong online presence are the ones that seem to be doing so well these days, with more people flocking to the Internet for answers, tips, and ideas.
One way business owners get in front of consumers is by adding local listing websites to their company details. Local business listings are online directories that are mostly classified by sector and list key details about different companies in a local region, much like a phonebook.

What Do These Top Free Business Listing Sites Do?

When clicking on one of these local directories, users are given an option of hundreds of local pizza joints to choose from. These directories contain hours of service, website URL, address, phone number, and even company reviews. However, the consequence is incomplete or incorrect details when business owners do not take the time to update or build a local listing profile for their business.
Missing or incorrect details lead to disgruntled consumers who opt instead to give their company to a nearby rival merely because they have correctly reported their hours of operation and phone number.
All too familiar are instances such as this one. The alternative is to concentrate on adding your company details to local business directories in order to avoid handing clients over to your rivals.
Below are a few reasons why these local business online directories are so important in an age where the online search is mainstream for the survival of your company.

Improving the Image of Businesses

Business directories, such as Google My Business, Bing Locations, and Yelp, all allow consumers to review their product or service experience. Although many business owners hate ratings, they give you the opportunity to boost the prestige of your business. When done correctly, even a negative review can be turned into a more positive learning experience. As long as your consumers or partners are interacting successfully, you should expect the majority of your feedback to be positive. It is then possible to post those reviews on social media and you can even list them on your website.

Dominate the Outcome of your Search

Think of a Monopoly board when it comes to a website of search results. The aim is to gain as many assets on the board as possible when playing Monopoly, to maximise the likelihood that other players can land on your real estate. A search results page is the same thing; the more often your website appears on the page, the more likely it is for users to click on your website. The design of local business profiles on top free business listing sites is one of the best ways to ensure that your site appears often in search results.
The best part about adding your business to online local business listings is that the majority of them are free. Adding your business to Google My Business, Bing Places, Yelp, Facebook, YellowPages and other major listing sites does not cost you a dime, and the setup is quite easy. As long as you have a few minutes to sit down and input your company information into your new profile, you should be up and running in no time. Paid online local business directories will usually charge a one-time setup fee or a very small monthly fee in order to maintain your listing for you.
Wrapping Up
Keep in mind that all top free business listing sites are different, so there may be different processes regarding how you can create or claim a listing. For example, some sites will send you a postcard with a PIN number that you will need to input online in order to claim your profile. Other listings will call your business phone number and give you a code to input, while others will simply require you to open a confirmation email.
In the end, business listings are worth the time investment; they offer cheap online exposure and are very cost-effective. The ROI can be measured easily if you have Google Analytics or other website tracking set up as all user traffic coming from these listing sites are labelled as “Referral”. If you understand the importance of local business directory but don’t have the time or the manpower to create a profile on these websites, then we at My Local Pages recommend enlisting in the help of local business listing services. For a low monthly price, agencies and online marketing companies will create, update, and claim local business directory profiles for you.

2020.11.16 20:46 lawrenceJen Ecommerce Digital Marketing Tips for More Online Sales

The potential out there for those in the ecommerce business is huge. However, with so many businesses actually doing business on the internet, you need to know how to be ahead of the competition. This is where campaigns in ecommerce digital marketing, run by an experienced Digital Marketing Agency in Melbourne come in.
Using techniques such as PPC a good Lead Generation Agency can help you boost sales and revenue, and gain a huge share of the potential that is out there. Remember to partner with an agency that is a Google Premier Partner so that you can gain from their expertise and knowledge on running successful campaigns.
What tips can a good Digital Marketing Agency follow to get more online sales using ecommerce digital marketing?
Google Shopping Ads – Using Google Shopping Ads, a Google Shopping Agency in Melbourne or elsewhere can display highly relevant ads on search engine results pages at the very moment a potential customer is searching for similar products and services. This is one of the fastest ways to draw traffic to your ecommerce site.
Remarketing – Bring back those customers who once visited your ecommerce site through remarketing. As any Lead Generation Agency will tell you, remarketing is a great way to rekindle the interest the customer had in your products, and is a very successful way of increasing conversions.
Social Shopping – Harness the power of social media through social shopping on platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. Any Digital Marketing Agency in Melbourne or elsewhere knows that people spend most of their time browsing on social media, so why not use that to a business’ advantage? Social Shopping is easy and fast, and very relatable to modern shoppers.
Reviews & References– Customer reviews on your products or your business, or the services you provided for them, is a great way of earning people’s trust. The more reviews, the more trusted your business is, and people won’t think twice about coming to you. This can be especially true for certain industries; such as real estate. You can also create incentive schemes for your customers for referring you to their friends and family. People will tend to trust the recommendations of their peers rather than strangers, according to expert Digital Marketing Agencies.
Pop-Ups – Using pop-ups with offers and discounts is another great technique used in Ecommerce Digital Marketing as it is one of the easiest ways to grab a customer’s attention. Pop-ups can generate huge amounts of extra revenue for your business.

2020.11.14 22:43 Ippei_Kanehara Best Amazon FBA Courses (With In-Depth Summaries/Reviews of Each One)

For the past several years, a partner and I stepped hard into the Amazon Marketplace, and since knowledge is power, we went through a lot of FBA courses to fine-tune our product listings and shipping procedures.
In this review, I will cover the 6 Best FBA Courses to take in 2020 below:
From 2016 until recently, I dove deep into the Amazon FBA world to really get a feel for how to do it but also to see how it compared to my first business model.
These are the "big guns" of the Amazon Private Label Community, and I not only rank them here, but I also offer full, in-depth reviews for each of them as well as quick bio of each Amazon coaches.
DISCLAIMER: UNBAISED REVIEW-NO AFFILIATE LINKS
To show you that I am qualified to write these reviews, you should know that my partner and I have created two 6-figure product lines on Amazon.
So I have been very active as a seller on Amazon, using the fulfillment services offered by Bezos' company.
That said, I am not a know-it-all type guru, just a millennial intent on maximizing the value of the internet.
The Bottom line:
All I can give you is my own experience and reflections on what has worked best for my business. (If you want the in-depth story on one of my FBA products, read up on my Amazon Case Study)
Read My Amazon Case Study Here
Reminder: I'm not an affiliate to any FBA course.
Wondering what criteria I use to evaluate each course?
I rate my courses based on the presence and quality of:
My goal is that this bird's eye view into each FBA course will enable you to pick the online training program that is right for you and your situation.
Not one of these FBA courses is right for everyone, as each course instructor has their own teaching style that jives best with certain personalities better than others.
At the end of this post, I show you why lead generation is still my top recommendation in 2020. (aka how it stacks up against Amazon FBA)
But first things first:
My Top 6 FBA courses for 2020
6.) Amazon FBA Ninja by Kevin David
Course length: 10 hours and 19 minutes. Price: $3,997 (but often 50% off on the website)
📷
PROS
CONS
FBA NINJA MASTERCLASS COURSE DETAILS:
The FBA Ninja Masterclass does have some holes, but Kevin displays his brilliance when it comes to his FB Ads Training that he includes.
Kevin doesn't pull an punches, he's more of a straight-to-the-point personality type. His videos aren't long and drawn out, but use time efficiently.
If you are an apply-it-on-the-fly kind of person, you'll definitely enojy the spped at which Kevin delivers his education.
Are you the reading type?
Looking for written course content?
Kevin shows a lot of value here as well providing pdfs in most of his modules. But as a heads up, there's unique content in both the vids and papers, so to get the max value, you should both watch and read.
📷
I'd say this course is for you if you can handle a firehose of rapid fire information. If you're a little on the ADD side (as I am), you'll not be bored like in your senior year english classes.
You do need to be able to take concepts and run with them, problem solving as you go, as Kevin doesn't cover all the hypotheticals in his mini-lectures.
Just be ready to run with your laptop, paper and pen if you opt-in to this course.
Overall, the Amazon FBA Ninja Course is affordably priced and enables you to exchange gold nuggets with other Private Label Ninjas in the FB group.
The Bottom Line
Best selling point
Biggest Issues
Conclusion:
Just like his Lambo, this course is Fast and Furious! If you are ready to rapidly build an FBA business, you'll enjoy Kevin David's ninja approach. #thatlifestyleninja
Just as a warning, Kevin teaches a product selection model that worked really well in 2017 when the marketplaces was not nearly as crowded as it is now and Chinese Suppliers weren't selling their own products on Amazon (like many are doing now).
But if you find a substitute product selection method, you'll have most of what you need.
FBA NINJA MASTERCLASS RATING: 3.0/5

5.) Nine University 2.0 - Kale & Taylor
Course length: 16 hours of Video Content Price: $1,997
📷
PROS
CONS
NINE UNIVERSITY 2.0 COURSE DETAILS:
Kale and Taylor's Nine University 2.0 does have some age to it being made in 2017, but K&T have come back and updated their course, providing more details in certain modules like adding more research techniques to their product selection section.
One helpful hack that you might appreciate if you are new to the FBA game is to be sure that you ask your supplier for both the unit price and the shipping price of your products.
📷
**Warning: Kale is sometimes a little short with his explanations, leaving out some of the risks of his suggestions, like the fact that adding icons to listings could get your listing shut down (per Amazon's TOS). *\*
Kale & Taylor do a pretty good job at covering a lot of the details product listing construction as well as providing specific suggestions on product shipping and packaging, like how to tell your supplier where to label your items and proactively fixing some of the issues that shipping your products via plane brings.
Finally, if you need motivation or hype, this course is for you! Kale brings the fire in nearly every lesson he teaches!
The Bottom Line
Best selling point
Biggest Issues
Conclusion:
Overall, KT Nine's course provides value, but for what it is it's overpriced.
Nine University 2.0 does include a couple of helpful bonuses (Quick Start Bootcamp and FB Ads Mini Course) that increase the value of the their course a bit.
Since they have gone through and updated their course, it is current for 2020.
NINE UNIVERSITY 2.0 RATING: 3.0/5

4.) FBA Sales Accelerator - Ryan Rigney
Course length: 14 hours and 29 minutes. Price: $495 (1-on-1 coaching is extra)
📷
PROS
CONS
FBA SALES ACCELERATOR COURSE DETAILS:
The FBA Sales Accelerator does have some holes, but Kevin displays his brilliance when it comes to his FB Ads Training that he includes.
Ryan's course is clearly laid out from A to Z, covering most of what's needed to get going on Amazon, but it's important to note that Ryan has geared his course to help those who are already selling a product or two on Amazon.
If you already have the basics of FBA, this course might provide the next level for you as Ryan shows how to get more traffic (from Facebook) and get more reviews (using Many Chat and his own SaaS, BoostRooster).
📷
I'd say this course is for you if you can appreciate an amazon seller being fairly open about how they do their own business.
While he's not quite as vulnerable as Tim Sanders (Private Label Masters), he does share what's working for him and which platforms he focuses the majority of his attention on.
Ryan's a pro at bringing in external traffic onto Amazon (which helps his products pop to the top).
In addition to FB Ad training, he also provides insight on how to partner with Instagram Influencers such as what reasonable to pay them.
The Bottom Line
Best selling point
Biggest Issues
Conclusion:
Ryan provides excellent material for those who are in the intermediate stages of buidling their Amazon FBA businesses.
His course is not for those who are just getting started as he doesn't spend much time on the basics (product selection, listing creation, etc.)
He does provide excellent value through his brand mindset trainings.
FBA SALES ACCELERATOR RATING: 4.0/5

3.) Amazing Selling Machine (ASM 11)
Course length: 19 hours Price: $5,000 (USD)
📷
PROS
CONS
ASM 11 COURSE DETAILS:
Matt Clark and Jason Katzenback started selling on Amazon in 2012.
Matt was already making money via private label on Amazon at the time and Jason had a history of selling educational materials on the internet dating back to 2003.
Matt brought Jason on because Jason wanted to learn to sell on Amazon and allegedly, sell he did. A variety of sources on the web indicate that he was soon doing 100k in revenue each month.
That same year, 2012, the two put together the Amazing Selling Machine and the rest seems to be history.
📷
When I started on Amazon in 2016, I went through their course and it helped me get the basics of selling on Jeff's ginormous platform.
The instructors (Rich Henderson and Mike McClary) do a very thorough job teaching the fundamentals of marketing private label items via FBA.
The fact that the course is taught by someone other than the founders (who are supposedly super successful on the platform) is a red flag to me, because that begs the question, do they really know what they are talking about?
But I saw a lot of reviews of people becoming successful through the course when I began looking into selling FBA in late 2015 (when starting a business, due diligence is a must, my first coaching program taught me that).
And it was through ASM in 2016 that I got my start in FBA.
Over the next 24 months, I built 2 brands to 6-figures.
Where the Amazing Selling Machine course falls short is that every year they proclaim to "update it," but really they simply add a few other features (like the "Profit Miner" chrome extension you can now get for free on their website if you opt in to their email list).
So when you buy into it now, you essentially get an old course (albeit a massive old course because of the add-ons) with some bells and whistles. #profitminer
The way I like to think of ASM now is as a 100 level, gen-ed college course.
You get the basics of the field, which is really helpful, but the practical strategies are outdated because it took so long for the course to be packaged and approved by the board of directors before it could be offered.
So it's a really beneficial course, even today, because of the grand perspective it gives you of the way that Amazon Private Label works.
The primary barrier to success is the same as with the FBA Ninja course:
Biggest Barrier to Success
The product selection process is outdated as the market has become super competitive for products sourced through Alibaba (a platform that connects sellers selling in the US market with inexpensive manufacturers and suppliers based in China).
The Amazon Marketplace will only become more crowded because the Chinese suppliers themselves are learning to sell on Amazon therefore being able to offer the same product at lower costs to the shoppers, essentially undercutting private label sellers.
Why might you want to be in ASM 11?
If you want to get a well-rounded education on the FBA system and a lot of what's involved in selling on Amazon, this course will really help you get there, but it's unlikely that you'll be able to successfully select your products through the strategies taught in the course.
The Bottom Line
Best selling point
Biggest Issues
Conclusion:
I got my start with ASM because the strategy worked back then.
It's still a great course to get most of your FBA education from (setting up your biz license, launching your product, etc.)
But remember, it's a gen ed course.
You'll have to take more if you want to be successful on Amazon in 2020.
AMAZING SELLING MACHINE 11 RATING: 4/5
Click Here to Read Our Full In-Depth Review
2.) Product University by Sophie Howard
Course length: 26 hours Price: $3,495
📷
PROS
CONS
PRODUCT UNIVERSITY COURSE DETAILS:
Product University was made in 2016 by Sophie Howard, an Amazon Seller based in New Zealand, selling into both the US and the AU marketplaces as well as her home country.
Sophie started on amazon part-time in 2014 while she was on maternity leave from her job.
She scaled quickly and established her first brand, Higher Tea.
📷
It's a consumable, responsibly sourced, organic tea so it demands ongoing sales as well as it has a unique appeal to those who want to enjoy health and take pride in supporting ethical manufacturing.
Sophie says that while she was able to get into tea when she started, she wouldn't recommend it now as the category is supersaturated.
Sophie doesn't teach how to set your Seller Account or how to get a business license, or other basic things like that, because, she says, you can find those resources elsewhere.
She shares her experience and really helps you discover markets to sell products to that are hard for copy-catting dealers to mimic because they don't have access to your uniquely sourced products.
The Bottom Line
Best selling point
Biggest Issue
Conclusion:
If you are willing to take on the basics yourself, like how to set up your account and your basic amazon listing, Sophie will give you the strategies to create brands that sell well for the long haul, and being able to exit as she does, building a brand worth 7 figures, then selling it off to an interested corporation.
PRODUCT UNIVERSITY RATING: 4.5/5

1.) Private Label Masters by Tim Sanders
Course length: 20 hours and 18 minutes. Price: $4,997
📷
PROS
CONS
PRIVATE LABEL MASTERS COURSE DETAILS:
Private Label Masters is taught by Tim Sanders.
Tim has been selling on Amazon since 2016 and was able to rapidly scale his business so that in less than a year he had achieved an upper 6 figure revenue.
📷
Tim's course is well-structured with 8 sequential modules, covering the ins and outs of selling on Amazon, with the exception of teaching a strategy that is losing effectiveness rapidly as more sellers enter the Amazon arena.
📷
Tim over-delivers in this course in a few areas:
If you are seriously considering going into Amazon FBA, then this is one of the better courses out there.
The Bottom Line
Best selling point
Biggest Issue
Conclusion:
Tim's course is an excellent one for learning the entire process of FBA from start to finish.
You can get it at a affordable price. (When I called their sales department, they offered $1,500 off if I bought the course on the call).
But before you and buy it, be sure to take into account the additional costs of selling on Amazon (FBA fees, product cost, packaging design, pay-per-click ads).
PRIVATE LABEL MASTERS RATING: 4.5/5
Click Here to Read Our Full In-Depth Review
So, Which FBA Course is right for you?
If you are low on dough, you could go with Ryan's FBA Sales Accelerator, which offers some sound strategies that are current to selling on Amazon in 2020.
But with FBA, you don't just need the right education.
I'm not going to lie to you...
To really get a solid start you need money.
Funding.
Cash.
Capital.
Money.
I realize that this thought is not popular as it would be more acceptable to be all rah rah, saying,
"Go out and achieve your dreams! You can do it!"
But that's not why you are here.
You chose to read this because you want to start an online business that will generate income to fund your lifestyle, whatever that may be.
And if you want to eventually start a collection of products on Amazon because that's what really makes your heart sing, then please don't take what comes next as a damper on your dreams, but choose to see it as your path to success, actually doing the things that you dream of.
To truly get started well on Amazon, you need more than most course sellers will tell you.
In my experience, most course creators seem to say you can get started with a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.
In my experienced opinion, that number is actually higher.
To do FBA well, you need 15,000 dollars, the reason being that once you have bought a course for 3.5k, then you only have 11.5k left for actually building your business, which, in real life, is a really a tight budget because you have to take into account the fact that you probably will have to launch multiple products to find one that really sells.
Want an example?
Check this out:
Sophie has pushed over 500 items into Amazon's marketplaces.
📷
Do you think all of them sell super well?
Hell no!
(That would be awesome, but does real life turn out that way?
No, not very often.
The truth is much more grim:
Some of the launched items sell more than others, while still others don't sell at all.
In my own experience, I had launched 3 products before I saw my first sales on Amazon.
What I've found and others as well is that it often requires testing the market to find "home-run" products.
Think of it as trying different lures to see what the fish in Bezo's ocean will bite.
Baiting the FBA hook (to continue the analogy), takes a good deal of money and time, that, honestly, most people in our world today don't have.
But those who have the funds end up putting up many different listings and launching a multiplicity of products into the marketplace at once.
And to be completely candid with you, if I didn't already have money coming in via my first business, lead generation, I wouldn't have had the money to become successful on Amazon.
And to illustrate that, check this out:
My FBA Experience Selling Honey on Amazon
📷
At the start of this article, I let it slip that I've sold products on Amazon for nearly 4 years.
One of them was organic honey.
I saw the thousands of health gurus were touting the importance of eating clean, organic foods and started scoping in on potential FBA products.
📷
After looking high and low all over the web, my product idea ending up coming from a trip to my grocery store.
I was picking up some fruit when I noticed a sign next to me promoting locally produced sticky sweetness: organic honey.
Upon reaching out the supplier, I did some due diligence, learning how many units were sold at one time (MOQ) as well as how much they'd charge to ship it stateside ($$$)
After verifying that hordes of honey-hungry vegans were shopping Amazon, I sketched out a list of what needed to be done before I could expect my first sale:
B4-FBA-Money To-Do List:
  1. Complete Product Due Diligence
  2. Create Product Listing (Optimized Title, 6 Bullet Points, 400 word description, back-end keywords as well as 3 kinds of images)
  3. Purchase UPC's and Get FNSKU Labels from Seller Central
  4. Arrange for Freight Forwarder to Pick Product from Port and send to Amazon (aka lots of phone calls and emails)
  5. Create Amazon Sponsored Pay-Per-Click Campaigns (both Auto and Manual)
  6. Monitor PPC Ad Spend
  7. Construct Review Funnel System (with Product Insert)
  8. Track the Locations of Shipments
  9. Be Mindful of Product Inventory Levels
  10. Handle Out-of-Stock Situations
With all that going on, I felt like a juggler riding a unicycle on a never-ending treadmill: never any time to travel or spend time with friends. #nopassivity
📷
But after some 8 months and about 13k out the door spent on inventory and product launch, I had things jumping.
9 months into the organic honey venture, I had my first sale!
Thanks to me split testing my main product image and the fact that it was April, the peak of allergy season
The best month was over 52k in sales in 30 days!
📷
It looks like an FBA success story, doesn't it?
But tap the brakes a minute, and take a look at how my costs & profits breakdown:
What?! 36 G's! you'd think I must have been rolling in the dough, right?! Oh wait, Amazon Fees...
Total Amazon Fees: $11,328.5
Referral Fees: 18% of Overall Sales ($9404.40)
Fulfillment Fees: $5.42/pack, since each pack was a hair under 3lbs ($1,924.10)
Sponsored Ad Cost: 14,264.37
Total Costs: $25,592.87
Left over net profit: $11,131
$11,131 in a single month sounds pretty good on the surface, but for the 2 years I sold organic honey, that was my highest month.
My partner and I also did all the work ourselves, so the time per hour didn't really add up to much between us.
This is when I began to realize how low the true profit margins of a physical products business really are.
3 Reasons Why Selling on Amazon is difficult:
1. Yes, you can have some high dollar months, but seasonality is a bitch.
2. If you do find a home-run product, you can be certain that someone else will come along and copy your product.
3. Constantly trying to stay ahead of the competition is exhausting. It takes tons of energy, focus and a little hope...
Yes, I did make a few bucks during that month, but if I factor in the dollars I spent on testing different variations of my product listing (swapping images and copy), the money definitely wasn't the gangsta income I'd hoped for.
I also learned that customer service wasn't my thing. The world of dealing with reviews and product refunds sucked the energy from me like a vacuum on carpet.
When I wrapped up the organic honey excursion, I understood that to bank on Amazon, you won't get rich off of a single product.
You need to scale from 1 item to 10 while keeping your eyes peeled for more product opportunities.
Is it worth it?
In my opinion, since I've done both, Amazon FBA is waaay better than having a 9-5 job as I'm pretty sure that anything is better than being stuck in that office.
That might be why so many of these FBA courses sell so well.
Many people want the freedom that running their own business can provide: like choosing what hours they work or how much money they want to earn.
Nobody wants to be just a cog in a wheel.
On the other hand, the FBA model wasn't cutting it. It took too much time and energy for the (lack of) desired results.
If you want more details on what it takes to start an Amazon FBA business, I wrote a guide on the entire process. Just click the button below:
Read My Amazon FBA Guide Here
Competitors Copying Your Private Label Business
Most FBA courses, even the best ones like the Amazing Selling Machine and Private Label Masters, teach the method of researching the competition and copying what other FBA sellers have already made. Tim calls it "market intelligence."
But here's the kicker
You can literally copy & paste someone's private label product in a matter of hours by matching their Amazon product on the popular FBA seller outlet, Alibaba.
I found this one in 10 minutes.
📷
This copy and paste method literally takes all the guess work out of it. There's no skill involved. Even a teenage could do it.
In fact, check this out:
📷
While this "Xerox Private Label" method sounds great on the surface, I'm not a fan.
Here's why:
What's to stop another seller from copy and pasting your private label business?
This makes Amazon FBA a short term play at best because:
A business model that allows someone to enter the space and literally clone your entire business in a matter of hours, simply cannot be a long-term income strategy.
Think about it
As time goes on, the niche becomes saturated, Amazon's Pay-Per-Click pricing will increase, and the product will no longer be profitable to sell.
That being said, the power players on Amazon create long lasting businesses by investing large amounts of money in creating their own unique products and supply lines that make duplication extremely difficult.
And to do that, you not only need to be an innovator, but also have at least $27k for the development and production.
When it comes to business, you don't want things to be "easy."
Key Takeaway
My rule of thumb is: If everyone can do it, you probably shouldn't. #saturation
Why do you think doctors make a boatload of money throughout their careers?
Because they've developed skills that few people have.
That's why I put my chips on businesses that actually require a high skill level to leverage, like lead generation. It's almost impossible for a person to come in and "Xerox" your business.
What is Lead Generation Exactly?
📷
I'm not a fan of copy and paste business models.
So as of 2020, I'm putting my entire attention on lead generation, which has always provided the best ROI.
Here's how it works
You build and rank simple websites at the top of Google that send customers to small businesses.
Lead generation still has both a high profit margin because we use free traffic to generate leads
Once you rank these sites, they have a high level of passivity, because after the site clicks into the top, you don't need to touch it.
Here's a site that I made in 2015 and haven't touched since
📷
Here's a few more reasons why I value lead generation over Amazon FBA...
Why Lead Generation Over Amazon FBA?
📷
Amazon FBA
Lead Generation
Don't get me wrong
I made some good money with FBA, but the need to constantly monitor the metrics (inventory, ad spend, etc.), I cashed out.
That's why I believe that many FBA sellers switch to offering courses sharing how to sell on Amazon, as the digital courses offer a much simpler (and more profitable) way to make money online.
But not everyone has an expertise that can be easily packaged into a ecourse.
Lead generation is a lean and mean business model because you are repeating 6 simple steps over and over
📷
These are the top reasons why the lead generation model remains my #1 recommendation in 2020.

2020.11.14 14:46 lawrenceJen Increase Your Brand Awareness with Google Ads

Any good Digital Marketing Agency in Melbourne, or anywhere else for that matter, will tell you that Google Ads is a very important tool for businesses. However, most businesses concentrate their Google Ads campaigns run together with a Google Ads Agency, on selling their products and services to increase sales and revenue. What they don’t realize is that it is a great tool to create or increase brand awareness.
Google Ads done right through a Google Premier Partner in Melbourne, are efficient and effective. And you can target your ads to specific audiences, making it more relevant. Not only that, but you can research and bid on the most appropriate keywords which consumers will use to search for similar products and services as yours, and use these to your advantage. So when a potential customer uses these keywords in a search, your ad will be displayed to them, prompting them to visit your website. As any Digital Marketing Agency in Melbourne will tell you, even if a customer doesn’t click on your ad, they will still see it and this is where brand awareness kicks in.
Building a brand is an important aspect of any business. Consumers will more than likely go ahead with a known brand than an unknown one, so there is no place for unknown entities in the world of business. The more you invest in brand awareness together with your partner Digital Marketing Agency, the more you can reach your sales and revenue goals, and with its business growth.
There are many ways of increasing brand awareness through Google Ads, using a PPC Agency in Melbourne.
Sitelinks – Sitelinks are links to a website’s subpages, and appear under the main listing. Any Lead Generation Agency will use sitelinks to help the business create awareness about new products and services among its audience. The best part about this is that you can do this under your current campaign budget, rather than creating new and separate ad campaigns for it.
Text Ads – Search Text Ads created by an experienced Digital Marketing Agency are also a great way to build brand awareness. Text Ads appear on Google results pages and consist of 3 headlines and up to 30 characters. When someone clicks on your Text Ad, you can consider it as the first step to gaining brand recognition for your business. Text Ads also use methods in SEM Management, where a user will not search for a specific brand, but a product or service they require.
Remarketing – Although you might think that remarketing isn’t really something you do for brand awareness, it does have its positive points. Remarketing is essentially targeting people who have previously visited your website, and it is an effort to rekindle the interest they had in certain products or services when they first visited your website. It is a great technique used by any Lead Generation Agency and works well for creating brand awareness and brand recognition.
Google Display Network – A Google Ads Agency who is also a Google Premier Partner will tell you that this is a great tool to build brand awareness as it consists of several different targeting methods to choose from, making your targeting approach very specific. The Google Display Network is in effect Google’s network of sites and apps where you can display your ads. Responsive display ads are the ideal format to be used here, which are low cost and get the desired results, although they might not be the most attractive of ad formats. Through the Google Display Network, your ad is displayed all over the internet. What more can you ask for to create brand awareness?
If you are looking to partner with a recognized Google Ads Agency in Melbourne to work on increasing your brand awareness, together with increasing traffic and conversions, it is always recommended to work with an agency that has obtained the status of Google Premier Partner, or anywhere in the world, since these agencies have the right amount of experience, know-how and success rate to make your campaigns return the results that you are looking for.

2020.11.11 11:46 lawrenceJen Why You Should Invest In Digital Marketing

With the surge in the use of the internet for almost every possible daily mundane task, and the increasing number of users online, businesses need to think out-of-the-box when it comes to promoting their products and services, and brand. This is why every business these days, whether small or large, needs Digital Marketing.
In order to make digital marketing successful it needs to be done right, and to do so you need the services of an experienced Digital Marketing Agency, who will come up with a compelling strategy to boost sales and increase revenue. Through strategies such as SEO, PPC, and SEM Management, a good agent who is also a Google Premier Partner can do wonders for your business to achieve goals and growth.
By investing in Digital Marketing and a good Digital Marketing Agency, your business can achieve great things, because there are so many benefits to gain from digital marketing as opposed to traditional marketing techniques. Such as:
Greater Reach and Brand Awareness – The potential out there on the internet is unlimited, and this is why digital marketing strategies are more successful compared to traditional marketing. Using a good PPC Agency or Google Ads Agency in Melbourne you can reach literally millions of potential customers and create brand awareness across the globe, and all this in just an instant.
Reach More Targeted Audiences – Most online platforms have personalized user's online experiences specifically with user's interests, preferences, geographical location, etc. Such personalization can be used by a PPC Agency using SEM Management in Melbourne to target specific and highly relevant groups of audiences. They can target their efforts to those consumers who actually have an interest in their products and services, leading to higher traffic and greater conversions. This is ideally used by Lead Generation Agency to create high quality leads for specific industries, such as lead generation for real estate.
Better Monitoring & Reporting – Using tools such as Google Analytics and such, a Digital Marketing Agency can monitor each and every campaign you are running to see which ones are successful and which are not. Through these analytics, it is easy to see whether your business is achieving the best possible return on your investments, how much traffic is being generated through your campaigns, and how many of these have actually converted into sales. Agencies who are Google Premier Partners have access to tools and technology that can give you the results of your campaigns at any given time, accurately and easily.
Mobile-Enabled – With more and more people using smart devices for day to day tasks, you need a digital marketing strategy that can tap into the potential of customers that lie there. This is what is so great about digital marketing; it is already mobile-friendly and you can reach all your customers on their mobile devices at the exact moment they are looking for similar products and services. An experienced Digital Marketing Agency will advise you on what improvements you need to make to your website or eCommerce site in order to make it more mobile-enabled.
Cost-Effective – Digital marketing is one of the most cost-effective forms of marketing because you have a wider reach and much lower costs. This is especially beneficial to small businesses that don't have the resources for elaborate marketing gimmicks or strategies. Together with a PPC Agency, you can define your ad spend according to your budget and you pay only when a customer clicks on your ad. It is an effective and efficient method of creating visibility and brand awareness, and a good Lead Generation Agency can help you generate more leads and conversions through low cost, effective digital marketing strategy.
Faster Results – With effective digital marketing strategies run by an experienced Digital Marketing Agency, you won't have to wait weeks and months to see results. Results are almost immediate, you get instant coverage and faster negotiations. It is by far the fastest and most effective way to gain greater brand visibility and more traffic to your site.

Yep. The JW’s did an incredible job of cultivating the PR that they’re kooky but also a “good” and “innocent” sect instead of the authoritarian cult that they actually are. For people unfamiliar with how badJWs actually are this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Not every state has laws that clergy have to report a crime.JW's have over the years fought these laws tooth and nail or ignored them outright knowing governments won't undergo the long legal case and headache from the "freedom of religion defense". In all cases of sexual assault JW leadership has been told to first contact the church's legal department first and not the police.

But wait, who raped her and why isn't he being blamed for having sex with a 15 year old minor girl???
The man recorded his assault on the little girl and yet did no one ask him why he even slept with a minor?! Are Jehovah's witnesses so degenerate and arrogant that they can do such a thing and think they are above common law?

Yes, but: 1)JWs teach that God nailed the Mosaic Law to the torture stake [Col 2:14], and 2) the last quote in my post shows that it's not only dangerous but unreasonable to demand a woman to try to fight/ scream to scare off her abuser.
There is a lot of evidence to show that a women tend to freeze when being attacked, yet the Mosaic Law says she should be stoned to death if the rape occurred in a city and she did not scream. Makes you think.

Great ideas!
I wrote to our last senator but no response or interest. Maybe this time around with a new one it’ll be better. The news stations and local papers didn’t respond either. I even wrote to our local library because I knewJWs meet their studies there. Every time I see a JW pamphlet on grocery store bulletin boards I write JWFACTS.com on it. I’ve been unwitnessing to my coworkers who are supportive and also say they will help spread the truth about the truth. I will not give up.
But it’s discouraging hearing my PIMI husband defending them and attacking me for even asking questions or being critical.

She was being sexually assaulted so recorded one of the rapes as evidencethe rapist recorded hoping he could prove it wasn’t rape it was happening.JW's have a rule that you have to have two witnesses in order for an allegation to be taken seriously. That means unless there is overwhelming evidence of let's say child sexual abuse, if it's only the child making the claim and no one else has witnessed it the abuser will be left off the hook.

The perpetrator did it so the victim could be expelled.
Why? Because they are heavily Biblical when they want, so a victim of rape girl is the culprit. JWs(the religion) is so fucked up you can't grasp it.

Which watchtower issue? The elders book, Shepherd the Flock of God outlines the two witness rule in the case of rape. One of the recent watchtower studies stated that the victim should sympathize with the rapist.
If you ask an elder directly about the policy they will lie to your face, even if it’s your own father. Read the elders manual. Those are the rules they must follow. They are taught to use theocratic warfare to obfuscate their true protocols.
Check out JWFACTS.com It’s well researched and doesn’t twist any facts. It uses direct passages from the watchtower publications.

A few other thoughts Watchtower has on the subject:
"Treat Him Respectfully – The intended victim should remember that the rapist is a human. No doubt there are circumstances in his life that have precipitated his behavior. So although a woman should not cower in fear and permit a rapist to intimidate her, at the same time she should treat him understandingly as a fellow human." Awake! 1984 Feb 22 p.24
"Thus if a Christian woman does not cry out and does not put forth every effort to flee, she would be viewed as consenting to the violation. The Christian woman who wants to keep clean and obey God's commandments, then, if faced with this situation today, needs to be courageous and to act on the suggestion made by the Scriptures and scream. Actually this counsel is for her welfare; for, if she should submit to the man's passionate wishes, she would not only be consenting to fornication or adultery, but be plagued by the shame." Watchtower 1964 Jan 15 pp.63-4
"Also, that if she did not scream she would ruin her relationship with Jehovah God and the Christian congregation; that then she would be disfellowshiped or excommunicated from it and that this would be worse than being killed as far as she was concerned." Awake! 1974 Mar 8 pp.13-16
"A Christian woman is under obligation to resist, for the issue of obedience to God's law to "flee from fornication" is involved. (1 Cor. 6:18) By no means would it be proper for her willingly to submit to being raped." Watchtower 1980 Oct 15 p.7
"Why you should resist an attacker from the first moment: ... Your conscience will be clear. (Even if you are raped, you will not sacrifice your self-respect or cleanness before God)" Awake! 1986 May 22 p.23
“The primary reaction of almost all women to the rape was fear.” And the problem is that such fear can be paralyzing. ... "I was overwhelmingly confused and defenseless against the whole suddenness." . . . Profound terror in the face of physical threats simply renders most women helpless." Awake! 1980 Jul 8 pp.5-6

Read the Shepherd the Book, "Brother", that's the elder's instruction manual. It has full details of what to do.
If they are not cult, why hide the rules of what gets you and doesn't get you disfellowshipped as apostasy?
Why are older publications apostasy, brother?
Why is it apostasy learning that Charles Taze Russel got the 1914 thing from counting the geometrics of the Pyramids of Keops, made entirely with pagan purposes, and that Jerusalem didn't fall in the 600s but in the 500bC?
Can't you tell? Or why Jehovah had Asherah as his wife?

Born and raised over 40yrs in the org. Seriously? Have you ever heard from the podium even once that if you are a victim of sexual assault that you should call the police immediately? Have you ever seen it in a JW video? How about the GB? Have you ever heard them say go directly to the police? No! They say go to the Elders. Then in the super secret elder book, Elders are directed to NOT call the police (you can verify this im sure your dad has a copy). Instead they are told to call the branch office and THE BRANCH OFFICE (probably miles and miles away) will decide if the Elders should call the police or not. And as far as the victims go. They are told that yes they can go to the police if they choose but, it may bring reproach on Jehovahs name. Now let's be honest who wants to be that person? Nevermind that they are the innocent party. They are told that they would be doing wrong by going to the police. I know this first hand. I think its great that your dad is protecting you by telling you to go to the police. Does he tell everyone in the congregation to go to the police or just you?

Adding this bit of information from the 1980's - 1990's Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's telememo reporting form used at their headquarters whenever an elder (congregation middle management) called in with a report of a child being sexually molested.
Page 2 of the Watchtower Society's telememo reporting form for the gathering of information from phone calls about child - CHILD sexual molestation has a hell of a doozy of a question - Question Number Nine - that exposes the Watchtower Society's real attitude towards child victims:
https://www.jwfacts.com/images/child-abuse-telememo-1993-p3.jpeg
How many elders felt that the victim was somewhat at fault or willingly participated in the acts?
THAT is the attitude the Watchtower has towards CHILD molestation victims!
Just like a criminal sexual predator would try to plead off! "But he/she seduced me! But he/she enjoyed it!"

So, I can walk up to a JW, stab them with a syringe full of blood, and force them to be excommunicated and punished for receiving a forced blood transfusion against their will right? By this logic it makes perfect sense to me.

Jehovah's Witnesses discourage victims from coming forward about being sexually molested as children:
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-42025255
... Louise Palmer, who now lives in Evesham, Worcestershire, was born into the organisation along with her brother Richard Davenport, who started raping her when she was four. He is serving a 10-year prison sentence for the abuse.
The 41-year-old, formerly of Halesowen, West Midlands, said she was told not to go to police.
"I asked [the organisation], 'what should I do? Do you report it to the police, [or] do I report it to the police'?
"And their words were that they strongly advised me not to go to the police because it would bring reproach on Jehovah."
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/ma25/jehovahs-witnesses-accused-of-silencing-victims-of-child-abuse-uk
At least 20 former Jehovah's Witnesses are suing the group over historical sexual abuse they say they suffered.
The group has a policy of not punishing alleged child sex abuse unless a second person, alongside the accuser, has witnessed it - or an abuser confesses...
John Viney, who says he was abused between the ages of nine and 13, by "a distant family member who was an active Jehovah's Witness", added children were still being abused and the religious organisation was "inadvertently" protecting their abusers.
"The way that Jehovah's Witnesses handle matters within the congregation, it's a closed shop," he told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme.
"I know for a fact now that there are parents that haven't done anything about the abuse of their children by others because they don't want to bring reproach on Jehovah's name."
The Jehovah's Witnesses' corporate spiritual leaders, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (and numerous subsidiary corporations) have known about the problem for decades. They allegedly have an extensive collection of files of known, confessed, and accused sexual molesters of children which the Watchtower (Bible and Tract Society) has consistently refused to hand over to courts or other law-enforcement authorities:
About the admitted database: https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2019/03/the-secret-jehovahs-witness-database-of-child-molesters/584311/
In March 1997, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, the nonprofit organization that oversees the Jehovah’s Witnesses, sent a letter to each of its 10,883 U.S. congregations, and to many more congregations worldwide. The organization was concerned about the legal risk posed by possible child molesters within its ranks. ....
Keep a copy of the report in your congregation’s confidential file, the instructions continued, and do not share it with anyone.
Thus did the Jehovah’s Witnesses build what might be the world’s largest database of undocumented child molesters: at least two decades’ worth of names and addresses—likely numbering in the tens of thousands—and detailed acts of alleged abuse, most of which have never been shared with law enforcement, all scanned and searchable in a Microsoft SharePoint file. In recent decades, much of the world’s attention to allegations of abuse has focused on the Catholic Church and other religious groups. Less notice has been paid to the abuse among the Jehovah’s Witnesses, a Christian sect with more than 8.5 million members. Yet all this time, Watchtower has refused to comply with multiple court orders to release the information contained in its database and has paid millions of dollars over the years to keep it secret, even from the survivors whose stories are contained within.
Watchtower is so determined to keep the information in their database secret that they were willing to pay over $4 million dollars in legal fines for defying the State of California's requests (subpoenas) to obtain information on such criminals within California Jehovah's Witness (JW) congregations. The Watchtower even had the unmitigated gall to attempt to have the U.S. Supreme Court rule to reverse the original judgment and damages awarded. The Supreme Court rejected the Watchtower's appeal: https://apnews.com/press-release/pr-pr.com/c725a14c86359d1d53b930f9bad04d3d
In the case of JW v. Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc. et. al., the Riverside Superior Court of California awarded the Plaintiff, “J.W.,” a judgment of $4,016,152.39 plus interest at 10% per year after terminating Watchtower’s defense, because it refused to obey the Court’s order to produce files of known child molesters within the JW organization. In 2018, the Fourth District Court of Appeal in California upheld that decision. The U.S. Supreme Court’s rejection of Watchtower’s Petition (essentially a request for an appeal) lets stand the original judgement and damages granted by the lower court.
The Two-Witness rule:
https://medium.com/@wesharetoinspire/questioning-humanity-the-jehovahs-witnesses-two-witness-rule-ed3b2f5aa6a1
The ‘two witness-rule’ implies that when there aren’t two witnesses to a crime such as sexual abuse one will not act appropriately by not immediately calling the authorities.
If there aren’t two witnesses to a crime the matter should be resolved by Jehovah, according to the Jehovah’s witnesses. Here Jehovah is the name for God. Even though the community claims they urge victims to report the crime and that they do not protect child molesters; unfortunately reality tells us otherwise. Recently, during a major trial in Australia the following was revealed:
“It also examined evidence from case files held by the organisation which recorded allegations, reports or complaints of child sexual abuse by 1,006 members of the organisation.
The Royal Commission found children are not adequately protected from the risk of child sexual abuse in the Jehovah’s Witness organisation and does not believe the organisation responds adequately to allegations of child sexual abuse.” Source: https://www.childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au/case-studies/case-study-29-jehovahs-witnesses
A protest was held at the gates of the Watchtower headquarters/compound in Warwick, New York, by ex-members, over the horrors of the two-witness rule in cases of sexual predators preying upon children within the JW congregations.
Within a week or two of that protest, Watchtower reinforced their commitment to that insanely cruel two-witness rule:
https://www.revealnews.org/blog/jehovahs-witnesses-double-down-on-scripture-used-to-ignore-abuse/
What should Jehovah’s Witnesses do if they think someone they know has sexually abused a child, but no one was there to see it?
Nothing.
So say leaders of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, who instruct elders not to take action against a member of the religion accused of child sexual abuse without a confession or at least two witnesses to the crime.
That policy is based on Scripture, according to the religion’s top officials.
The vast majority of sexual predators abuse their victims in secret, with no witnesses present. And even though Jehovah’s Witnesses are under pressure worldwide for covering up child sexual abuse, a senior official says scrapping the policy isn’t up for discussion.
“We will never change our Scriptural position on that subject,” said Gary Breaux, a senior official at the religion’s global headquarters in New York, known as the Watchtower.
Breaux made the statement this month on JW Broadcasting – the religion’s official internet video channel.
“Our good reasoning is pretty solid on this,” he said. ...
The Australian Royal Commission's Case Number 29 and Case Number 54 are interesting reads for anyone interested in further information:

Being raped against her will is not a judicial committee involvement. However, someone that claims they were raped to hide that they had sex is. Some crazy kids today might and have recorded sex with a partner. If that tape was played back and she wasn't being rapped but had consentual sex, she can be removed or disfellowshipped from the organization. It's on the same scale as these that film you doing athletic feats while claiming a workman's comp claim and being shown as a fraud. Big picture is needed to understand when a Jehovah's Witness is expelled from the organization. The only side you are going to hear is the one that got expelled, not from the Elders that were part of the judicial committee. Those records are sealed, especially if the person is under 18 years of age.

If you're in the USA, you might email all of your representatives, once the dust settles from this election.
If you have a neighborhood club, get-together, HOA's, you might bring it up as a public-service announcement. Since theJWs allow sexual predators to prey upon children within their own kingdom halls, one might be deeply concerned about their door-to-door preaching work. That smiling JW at the door (which a child just opened) might be an unregistered sexual predator who's received all of a symbolic slap on the wrist from his church leaders.

It absolutely does matter in a court of law, it's part of their "religious practices". Look up Montana CSA Jehovah's witnesses and you will find just such a case. The elders (JW clergy) didn't report an allegation of CSA, despite mandatory reporting laws. They used the clergy/penitent privilege loophole, just like the Catholics do. So even with the recording, they weren't legally obligated to report it. (Lovely little religion, isn't it. /s)

I understand what you're saying, but calling all religions "cults" undermines the damage real cults do to people's lives. I think you would be interested in looking into the BITE model. It is criteria for what is/isnt a cult, created by Stephen Hassan. He is a seasoned a therapist specializing in helping people out of cults and cult deprogramming. Some religions don't meet criteria for it while some non religious movements do. Many ex cult members on YouTube (Telltale Athiest [ex JW], Jimmy Snow [ex Mormon], Genetically Modified Athiest [ex fundamentalist Christian]) have used it to gauge certain movements/religions and how they rank in the world of cults. Fundie Fridays is really amazing too, as her channel mainly focuses on fundamentalist Christian familes/movements, and her videos are quite well researched.

The rape was recorded by the perpetrator who was using it to "prove" it wasn't rape.
The girl was forced to listen to it because the elders view premarital sex as a sin, so they wanted her to confess she had sinned so they could discipline her for it.
Jehovah's Witnesses have a "two witness rule" that means that if you accuse someone of a sin there needs to be another witness to it. So in this case the guy would have had to admit to the rape to form two witnesses to the sin. This has led to a loophole where rapists and child molestors can get away with their crimes within the church.

2020.11.09 03:32 QueasyAllday In favour of a more balanced discourse around vaginal birth/”natural birth”

Let's start with: apologies, this is a long one.
Hey reddit,
I’m a FTM (currently just out of my 1st trimester) who spends a fair amount of time online right now reading about my options when it comes to labour. I know this topic can be quite sensitive on the internet so I just want to start by saying: I have no preference and no biases towards vaginal birth or elective C-sections at all. I’m still early in my pregnancy and my preference is: whatever is safe for the baby and myself. Drugs? Yup no issues with drugs as far as I’m concerned. You don’t want any drugs? All the power to you!
Overall I understand where the motivations come from: the idea of a labour that involves being in tune with your body during labour in a way that involves as little external intervention sounds great! If I get the chance to do that, it would be amazing.
I guess if maternal mortality was not a thing, modern medicine would not look the way it does today though. I’m sure no woman in favour of “natural” labour discards this reality, but at times it sounds like we forgot that yes indeed women’s bodies have pushed babies form vaginas since the beginning of times but a lot more women died giving birth too! (pretty sure it was the leading cause of death for women at some point in history).
Whilst the counter argument to this I hear often is that moms having a preference for vaginal birth have no issue with C-sections if they are medically required it sometimes feel that something is missing in this conversation: I am not sure that all women seem to know what vaginal birth related complications truly entails.
Some older FTM are at times deemed “too posh to push” for choosing C-sections (I myself will be 35 when giving birth) when there are complications that women might not be aware of with regards to vaginal birth as an "older" FTM:
“The mechanisms that kick off labor don’t seem to work as well in older first-time moms, which can make them more likely to go past due - another risk factor. Older moms also tend to have less effective contractions, which can lead to longer labors and extended pushing - which is strongly linked to pelvic injuries. In 2013, for instance, British researchers found that a woman’s odds of severe trauma to the sphincter start out quite small but grow 40 percent with each minute she pushes. And because the pelvic muscles and ligaments are less elastic with age, the babies of older moms are more likely to get stuck coming out.
Source https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/01/childbirth-injuries-prolapse-cesarean-section-natural-childbirth/
So I’m not saying that I have a preference for one over the other, I’m saying that often women do not seem to have all the information at hand when it comes to vaginal birth. Hear me out:
I have seen for example a few moms on YouTube (won’t name names) being told by their doctors that a C-section might be a good idea but they did not want to go down that road (which I respect, your body your choice) but didn’’t seem to be fully informed of the complications that come with a complicated/assisted vaginal birth.
I have seen a few videos now of traumatic postpartums involving severe tearing, incontinence and PTSD. I’m not writing this to scare anyone (we’re on the same boat here girl), I am writing this to balance the discourse a little bit.
I decided from day one that I would not make myself feel bad about whatever decision my partner and I make regarding this pregnancy, we both want to do well and will do our best.
Anyway, my issue here is not the choice that is made by moms going against the suggestion of a C-section (every mom makes the choice that suits her best) it’s the lack of information about vaginal birth-related complications and injury. I see a lot of women standing firmly in their choice which is great, however it doesn’t always feel like this choice is informed 100%. I think some hospitals and doctors are responsible for that but that's another topic.
I often see on Reddit women clearly aware of the fact that C-sections are major surgeries (they absolutely are!!) and I’ve read a few times that women have a biased against them because tearing is manageable (this is, debatable) when C-sections can involve severe complications (again, this is factual).
However, a lot of the data suggests that if the risks involved in C-sections are greater than the ones involved in vaginal birth, they are also a more rare (at least they are in my state).
It means the absolute numbers show these complications are quite rare where I live but obviously they are absolutely devastating when they happen though.
I think we are not really talking about the physical and mental impact of complicated vaginal birth as much and seem to often brush them off as “normal” and “manageable”.
I find that where I live (Australia) the data isn’t actually saying that vaginal birth complications come with incredibly more manageable outcomes. Are these complications less severe than the worst complications caused by C-sections: absolutely. Are they more frequent though? They are more frequent.
One side note: context here is important, when you give birth at a public hospital there might be things outside of your control such as who is available and when, how fast you will be assessed, how your labour will be managed etc. I heard horror stories from relatives about being forced to push when not ready and aggressive staff forcing women to do things they did not want to/were not ready for.
These can all throw your plans for a vaginal birth out of the window or disrupt the conditions that were needed for things to fall into place as expected. So what I mean here is that even if nothing seem to indicate that a C-section is needed, there could be factors in your environment that turn you uncomplicated vaginal birth (on paper) to something more assisted.
Looking at public stats for your hospital can help, in Sydney where I live you see different practices for different hospitals and there’s reason for it. I read a few papers by an Australian OBGYN’s (Hans Peter Dietz) around forceps-related damage to the pelvis, unsurprisingly his hospital has a low rate of forceps deliveries:
“Nepean Hospital had the lowest rate of forceps deliveries among the top-tier public hospitals (2.3 per cent) and the highest rate of elective and emergency caesareans, suggesting obstetricians and mothers opted for surgery over forceps to help avoid severe pelvic floor damage.”
I recently watched Melanie Murphy’s post labour vlog on YouTube where she was told at the hospital that they would do a C-section because she pushed for an hour and that was their policy, again she did not seem to know it was the case. They ended up using forceps I believe, she’s also dealing with recovering from third degree tearing now. This may not have changed her decision, what I’m highlighting here is she didn’t know about the one-hour rule at the hospital she went to (sounds like a horrible rule for FTM if you want my opinion)
Some data I found interesting (Australia-specific but I believe could apply to the U.K and maybe U.S too?)
The lifetime risk of needing prolapse surgery (after vaginal birth) is now likely to be over 20% in Australia. The incidence of levator tears is guaranteed to be at all- time highs now due to the comeback of Forceps, and the same goes for anal sphincter tear rates. The risk of suffering a major levator tear at a top tertiary hospital in Sydney is now bound to be over 20%, and over 15% for anal sphincter tears.
(U.S data)
The meta-analysis in PLOS Medicine found that vaginal delivery is associated with greater risk of urinary incontinence (14.9% incidence after vaginal delivery, compared to 8.93% incidence after C-section) and pelvic organ prolapse (5.99% for vaginal delivery, compared to 1.81% for C-sections) in the mother. According to ACOG, the risks of tearing and urinary and fecal incontinence are higher with assisted vaginal delivery. Source: https://www.self.com/story/informed-consent-in-childbirth
All that to say, this is an overwhelming time in our lives as future moms, making informed decisions about our bodies and labour can be the difference between a lovely labour memory and an absolutely traumatic one. Natural birth mama, scheduled C-sections mama: you rock. No judgement here, look at what your hospital practices are (I found public data easy to access in Australia, decided to go private and plan to ask my OBGYN about aaallll of the above) talk to your midwife, don’t get shamed into an option or another and good luck with everything!
If you read this right after a complicated labour and are based in AU: https://www.birthtrauma.org.au/

2020.10.26 18:46 EugeneBYMCMB /r/Scams Common Scam Master Post

Hello visitors and subscribers of scams! Here you will find a master list of common (and uncommon) scams that you may encounter online or in real life. Thank you to the many contributors who helped create this thread!

If you know of a scam that is not covered here, write a comment and it will be added to the next edition.

Previous threads: https://old.reddit.com/Scams/search?q=common+scams+master+post&restrict_sr=on
Blackmail email scam thread: https://www.reddit.com/Scams/comments/jij7zf/the_blackmail_email_scam_part_6/
Some of these articles are from small, local publications and refer to the scam happening in a specific area. Do not think that this means that the scam won't happen in your area.

Spoofing

Caller ID spoofing
It is very easy for anyone to make a phone call while having any number show up on the caller ID of the person receiving the phone call. Receiving a phone call from a certain number does not mean that the person/company who owns that number has actually called you.
Email spoofing
The "from" field of an email can be set by the sender, meaning that you can receive scam emails that look like they are from legitimate addresses. It's important to never click links in emails unless absolutely necessary, for example a password reset link you requested or an account activation link for an account you created.
SMS spoofing
SMS messages can be spoofed, so be wary of messages that seem to be from your friends or other trusted people.

The most common scams

The fake check scam (Credit to nimble2 for this part)
The fake check scam arises from many different situations (for instance, you applied for a job, or you are selling something on a place like Craigslist, or someone wants to purchase goods or services from your business, or you were offered a job as a mystery shopper, you were asked to wrap your car with an advertisement, or you received a check in the mail for no reason), but the bottom line is always something like this:
General fraudulent funds scams If somebody is asking you to accept and send out money as a favour or as part of a job, it is a fraudulent funds scam. It does not matter how they pay you, any payment on any service can be fraudulent and will be reversed when it is discovered to be fraudulent.
Phone verification code scams Someone will ask you to receive a verification text and then tell you to give them the code. Usually the code will come from Google Voice, or from Craigslist. In the Google version of the scam, your phone number will be used to verify a Google Voice account that the scammer will use to scam people with. In the Craigslist version of the scam, your phone number will be used to verify a Craigslist posting that the scammer will use to scam people. There is also an account takeover version of this scam that will involve the scammer sending a password reset token to your phone number and asking you for it.
Bitcoin job scams
Bitcoin job scams involve some sort of fraudulent funds transfer, usually a fake check although a fraudulent bank transfer can be used as well. The scammer will send you the fraudulent money and ask you to purchase bitcoins. This is a scam, and you will have zero recourse after you send the scammer bitcoins.
Email flooding
If you suddenly receive hundreds or thousands of spam emails, usually subscription confirmations, it's very likely that one of your online accounts has been taken over and is being used fraudulently. You should check any of your accounts that has a credit card linked to it, preferably from a computer other than the one you normally use. You should change all of your passwords to unique passwords and you should start using two factor authentication everywhere.
Cartel scam
You will be threatened by scammers who claim to be affiliated with a cartel. They may send you gory pictures and threaten your life and the lives of your family. Usually the victim will have attempted to contact an escort prior to the scam, but sometimes the scammers target people randomly. If you are targeted by a cartel scam all you need to do is ignore the scammers as their threats are clearly empty.
Boss/CEO scam A scammer will impersonate your boss or someone who works at your company and will ask you to run an errand for them, which will usually be purchasing gift cards and sending them the code. Once the scammer has the code, you have no recourse.
Employment certification scams
You will receive a job offer that is dependent on you completing a course or receiving a certification from a company the scammer tells you about. The scammer operates both websites and the job does not exist.
Craigslist fake payment scams
Scammers will ask you about your item that you have listed for sale on a site like Craigslist, and will ask to pay you via Paypal. They are scamming you, and the payment in most cases does not actually exist, the email you received was sent by the scammers. In cases where you have received a payment, the scammer can dispute the payment or the payment may be entirely fraudulent. The scammer will then either try to get you to send money to them using the fake funds that they did not send to you, or will ask you to ship the item, usually to a re-shipping facility or a parcel mule.
Craigslist Carfax/vehicle history scam
You'll encounter a scammer on Craigslist who wants to buy the vehicle you have listed, but they will ask for a VIN report from a random site that they have created and they will expect you to pay for it.
Double dip/recovery scammers
This is a scam aimed at people who have already fallen for a scam previously. Scammers will reach out to the victim and claim to be able to help the victim recover funds they lost in the scam.
General fraudulent funds scams The fake check scam is not the only scam that involves accepting fraudulent/fake funds and purchasing items for scammers. If your job or opportunity involves accepting money and then using that money, it is almost certainly a frauduent funds scam. Even if the payment is through a bank transfer, Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, Interac e-Transfer, etc, it does not matter.
Credit card debt scam
Fraudsters will offer to pay off your bills, and will do so with fraudulent funds. Sometimes it will be your credit card bill, but it can be any bill that can be paid online. Once they pay it off, they will ask you to send them money or purchase items for them. The fraudulent transaction will be reversed in the future and you will never be able to keep the money. This scam happens on sites like Craigslist, Twitter, Instagram, and also some dating sites, including SeekingArrangement.
The parcel mule scam
A scammer will contact you with a job opportunity that involves accepting and reshipping packages. The packages are either stolen or fraudulently obtained items, and you will not be paid by the scammer. Here is a news article about a scam victim who fell for this scam and reshipped over 20 packages containing fraudulently acquired goods.
The Skype sex scam
You're on Facebook and you get a friend request from a cute girl you've never met. She wants to start sexting and trading nudes. She'll ask you to send pictures or videos or get on webcam where she can see you naked with your face in the picture. The scam: There's no girl. You've sent nudes to a guy pretending to be a girl. As soon as he has the pictures he'll demand money and threaten to send the pictures to your friends and family. Sometimes the scammer will upload the video to a porn site or Youtube to show that they are serious.
What to do if you are a victim of this scam: You cannot buy silence, you can only rent it. Paying the blackmailer will show them that the information they have is valuable and they will come after you for more money. Let your friends and family know that you were scammed and tell them to ignore friend requests or messages from people they don't know. Also, make sure your privacy settings are locked down and consider deactivating your account.
The underage girl scam
You're on a dating site or app and you get contacted by a cute girl. She wants to start sexting and trading nudes. Eventually she stops communicating and you get a call from a pissed off guy claiming to be the girl's father, or a police officer, or a private investigator, or something else along those lines. Turns out the girl you were sexting is underage, and her parents want some money for various reasons, such as to pay for a new phone, to pay for therapy, etc. There is, of course, no girl. You were communicating with a scammer.
What to do if you are a victim of this scam: Stop picking up the phone when the scammers call. Do not pay them, or they will be after you for more money.
Phishing
Phishing is when a scammer tries to trick you into giving information to them, such as your password or private financial information. Phishing messages will usually look very similar to official messages, and sometimes they are identical. If you are ever required to login to a different account in order to use a service, you should be incredibly cautious.
The blackmail email scam part 5: https://old.reddit.com/Scams/comments/g8jqnthe_blackmail_email_scam_part_5/
PSA: you did not win a giftcard: https://old.reddit.com/Scams/comments/fffmle/psa_you_did_not_win_a_gift_card/
Sugar scams
Sugar scammers operate all over the internet and usually come in two varieties: advance-fee scams where the scammer will ask for a payment from you before sending you lots of money, and fake check style scams where the scammer will either pull a classic fake check scam, or will do a "bill pay" style scam that involves them paying your bills, or them giving you banking information to pay your bills. If you encounter these scammers, report their accounts and move on.
Google Hangouts
Google Hangouts is a messaging platform used extensively by all kinds of scammers. If you are talking with someone online and they want you to switch to Hangouts, they are likely a scammer and you should proceed with caution.
Publishers Clearing House scams
PCH scams are often advance-fee scams, where you will be promised lots of money after you make an initial payment. You will never need to pay if you win money from the real PCH.
Pet scams
You are looking for a specific breed of puppy, bird, or other pet. You come across a nice-looking website that claims to be breeding them and has some available right now - they may even be on sale! The breeders are not local to your area (and may not even list a physical location) but they assure you they can safely ship the pet to you after a deposit or full payment. If you go through with the payment, you will likely be contacted by the "shipper" who will inform you about an unexpected shipping/customs/processing fee required to deliver your new pet. But there was never any pet, both the "breeder" and the "shipper" are scammers, typically operating out of Africa. These sites are rampant and account for a large percentage of online pet seller websites - they typically have a similar layout/template (screenshot - example)
If you are considering buying a pet online, some easy things to check are: (1) The registration date of the domain (if it was created recently it is likely a scam website) (2) Reverse image search the pictures of available pets - you will usually find other scam websites using the same photos. (3) Copy a sentence/section of the text from the "about us" page and put it into google (in quotes) - these scammers often copy large parts of their website's text from other places. (4) Search for the domain name and look for entries on petscams.com or other scam-tracking sites. (5) Strongly consider buying/adopting your pet from a local shelter or breeder where you can see the animal in person before putting any money down.
Thanks to djscsi for this entry.
Fake shipping company scams
These scams usually start when you try to buy something illegal online, though not always. You will be scammed for the initial payment, and then you will receive an email from the fake shipping company telling you that you need to pay them some sort of fee or bribe. If you pay this, they will keep trying to scam you with increasingly absurd stories until you stop paying, at which point they will blackmail you. If you are involved in this scam, all you can do is ignore the scammers and move on, and try to dispute your payments if possible.
Chinese Upwork scam
Someone will ask you to create an Upwork or other freelancer site account for them and will offer money in return. You will not be paid, and they want to use the accounts to scam people.
Quickbooks invoice scam
This is a fake check style scam that takes advantage of Quickbooks.
The blackmail email scam The exact wording of the emails varies, but there are generally four main parts. They claim to have placed software/malware on a porn/adult video site, they claim to have a video of you masturbating or watching porn, they threaten to release the video to your friends/family/loved ones/boss/dog, and they demand that you pay them in order for them to delete the video. Rest assured that this is a very common spam campaign and there is no truth behind the email or the threats. Here are some news articles about this scam.
The blackmail mail scam
This is very similar to the blackmail email scam, but you will receive a letter in the mail.
Rental scams Usually on local sites like Craigslist, scammers will steal photos from legitimate real estate listings and will list them for rent at or below market rate. They will generally be hesitant to tell you the address of the property for "safety reasons" and you will not be able to see the unit. They will then ask you to pay them a deposit and they claim they will ship you the keys. In reality, your money is gone and you will have no recourse.
Craigslist vehicle scams A scammer will list a vehicle on Craigslist and will offer to ship you the car. In many cases they will also falsely claim to sell you the car through eBay or Amazon. If you are looking for a car on Craigslist and the seller says anything about shipping the car, having an agent, gives you a long story about why they are selling the car, or the listing price is far too low, you are talking to a scammer and you should ignore and move on.
Advance-fee scam, also known as the 419 scam, or the Nigerian prince scam. You will receive a communication from someone who claims that you are entitled to a large sum of money, or you can help them obtain a large sum of money. However, they will need money from you before you receive the large sum.
Man in the middle scams
Man in the middle scams are very common and very hard to detect. The scammer will impersonate a company or person you are legitimately doing business with, and they will ask you to send the money to one of their own bank accounts or one controlled by a money mule. They have gained access to the legitimate persons email address, so there will be nothing suspicious about the email. To prevent this, make contact in a different way that lets you verify that the person you are talking to is the person you think you are talking to.
Digit wallet scam
A variation of the fake check scam, the scammer sends you money through a digital wallet (i.e. Venmo, Apple Pay, Zelle, Cash App) along with a message claiming they've sent the money to the wrong person and a request to send the money back. Customer service for these digital wallets may even suggest that you send the money back. However, the money sent is from a stolen credit card and will be removed from your account after a few days. Your transfer is not reversed since it came from your own funds.
Cam girl voting/viewer scam
You will encounter a "cam girl" on a dating/messaging/social media/whatever site/app, and the scammer will ask you to go to their site and sign up with your credit card. They may offer a free show, or ask you to vote for them, or any number of other fake stories.
Amateur porn recruitment scam
You will encounter a "pornstar" on a dating/messaging/social media/whatever site/app, and the scammer will ask you to create an adult film with hehim, but first you need to do something. The story here is usually something to do with verifying your age, or you needing to take an STD test that involves sending money to a site operated by the scammer.
Hot girl SMS spam
You receive a text from a random number with a message along the lines of "Hey babe I'm here in town again if you wanted to meet up this time, are you around?" accompanied by a NSFW picture of a hot girl. It's spam, and they'll direct you to their scam website that requires a credit card.
Identity verification scam
You will encounter someone on a dating/messaging/social media/whatever site/app, and the scammer will ask that you verify your identity as they are worried about catfishing. The scammer operates the site, and you are not talking to whoever you think you are talking to.
This type of scam teases you with something, then tries to make you sign up for something else that costs money. The company involved is often innocent, but they turn a blind eye to the practice as it helps their bottom line, even if they have to occasionally issue refunds. A common variation takes place on dating sites/dating apps, where you will match with someone who claims to be a camgirl who wants you to sign up for a site and vote for her. Another variation takes place on local sites like Craigslist, where the scammers setup fake rental scams and demand that you go through a specific service for a credit check. Once you go through with it, the scammer will stop talking to you. Another variation also takes place on local sites like Craigslist, where scammers will contact you while you are selling a car and will ask you to purchase a Carfax-like report from a specific website.
Multi Level Marketing or Affiliate Marketing
You apply for a vague job listing for 'sales' on craigslist. Or maybe an old friend from high school adds you on Facebook and says they have an amazing business opportunity for you. Or maybe the well dressed guy who's always interviewing people in the Starbucks that you work at asks if you really want to be slinging coffee the rest of your life. The scam: MLMs are little more than pyramid schemes. They involve buying some sort of product (usually snake oil health products like body wraps or supplements) and shilling them to your friends and family. They claim that the really money is recruiting people underneath you who give you a slice of whatever they sell. And if those people underneath you recruit more people, you get a piece of their sales. Ideally if you big enough pyramid underneath you the money will roll in without any work on your part. Failure to see any profit will be your fault for not "wanting it enough." The companies will claim that you need to buy their extra training modules or webinars to really start selling. But in reality, the vast majority of people who buy into a MLM won't see a cent. At the end of the day all you'll be doing is annoying your friends and family with your constant recruitment efforts. What to look out for: Recruiters love to be vague. They won't tell you the name of the company or what exactly the job will entail. They'll pump you up with promises of "self-generating income", "being your own boss", and "owning your own company." They might ask you to read books about success and entrepreneurs. They're hoping you buy into the dream first. If you get approached via social media, check their timelines. MLMs will often instruct their victims to pretend that they've already made it. They'll constantly post about how they're hustling and making the big bucks and linking to youtube videos about success. Again, all very vague about what their job actually entails. If you think you're being recruited: Ask them what exactly the job is. If they can't answer its probably a MLM. Just walk away.

Phone scams

You should generally avoid answering or engaging with random phone calls. Picking up and engaging with a scam call tells the scammers that your phone number is active, and will usually lead to more calls.
Tax Call
You get a call from somebody claiming to be from your countries tax agency. They say you have unpaid taxes that need to be paid immediately, and you may be arrested or have other legal action taken against you if it is not paid. This scam has caused the American IRS, Canadian CRA, British HMRC, and Australian Tax Office to issue warnings. This scam happens in a wide variety of countries all over the world.
Warrant Call
Very similar to the tax call. You'll get a phone call from an "agent", "officer", "sheriff", or other law enforcement officer claiming that there is a warrant out for your arrest and you will be arrested very soon. They will then offer to settle everything for a fee, usually paid in giftcards.
[Legal Documents/Process Server Calls]
Very similar to the warrant call. You'll get a phone call from a scammer claiming that they are going to serve you legal documents, and they will threaten you with legal consequences if you refuse to comply. They may call themselves "investigators", and will sometimes give you a fake case number.
Student Loan Forgiveness Scam
Scammers will call you and tell you about a student loan forgiveness program, but they are interested in obtaining private information about you or demanding money in order to join the fake program.
Tech Support Call You receive a call from someone with a heavy accent claiming to be a technician Microsoft or your ISP. They inform you that your PC has a virus and your online banking and other accounts may be compromised if the virus is not removed. They'll have you type in commands and view diagnostics on your PC which shows proof of the virus. Then they'll have you install remote support software so the technician can work on your PC, remove the virus, and install security software. The cost of the labor and software can be hundreds of dollars. The scam: There's no virus. The technician isn't a technician and does not work for Microsoft or your ISP. Scammers (primarily out of India) use autodialers to cold-call everyone in the US. Any file they point out to you or command they have you run is completely benign. The software they sell you is either freeware or ineffective. What to do you if you're involved with this scam: If the scammers are remotely on your computer as you read this, turn off your PC or laptop via the power button immediately, and then if possible unplug your internet connection. Some of the more vindictive tech scammers have been known to create boot passwords on your computer if they think you've become wise to them and aren't going to pay up. Hang up on the scammers, block the number, and ignore any threats about payment. Performing a system restore on your PC is usually all that is required to remove the scammer's common remote access software. Reports of identity theft from fake tech calls are uncommon, but it would still be a good idea to change your passwords for online banking and monitor your accounts for any possible fraud. How to avoid: Ignore any calls claiming that your PC has a virus. Microsoft will never contact you. If you're unsure if a call claiming to be from your ISP is legit, hang up, and then dial the customer support number listed on a recent bill. If you have elderly relatives or family that isn't tech savvy, take the time to fill them in on this scam.
Chinese government scam
This scam is aimed at Chinese people living in Europe and North America, and involves a voicemail from someone claiming to be associated with the Chinese government, usually through the Chinese consulate/embassy, who is threatening legal action or making general threats.
Chinese shipping scam
This scam is similar to the Chinese government scam, but involves a seized/suspicious package, and the scammers will connect the victim to other scammers posing as Chinese government investigators.
Social security suspension scam
You will receive a call from someone claiming to work for the government regarding suspicious activity, fraud, or serious crimes connected to your social security number. You'll be asked to speak to an operator and the operator will explain the steps you need to follow in order to fix the problems. It's all a scam, and will lead to you losing money and could lead to identity theft if you give them private financial information.
Utilities cutoff
You get a call from someone who claims that they are from your utility company, and they claim that your utilities will be shut off unless you immediately pay. The scammer will usually ask for payment via gift cards, although they may ask for payment in other ways, such as Western Union or bitcoin.
Relative in custody Scammer claims to be the police, and they have your son/daughtenephew/estranged twin in custody. You need to post bail (for some reason in iTunes gift cards or MoneyGram) immediately or the consequences will never be the same.
Mexican family scam
This scam comes in many different flavours, but always involves someone in your family and Mexico. Sometimes the scammer will claim that your family member has been detained, sometimes the scammer will claim that your family member has been kidnapped, and sometimes the scammer will claim that your family member is injured and needs help.
General family scams
Scammers will gather a large amount of information about you and target your family members using different stories with the goal of gettimg them to send money.
One ring scam
Scammers will call you from an international number with the goal of getting you to return their call, causing you to incur expensive calling fees.

Online shopping scams

THE GOLDEN RULE OF ONLINE SHOPPING: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Dropshipping
An ad on reddit or social media sites like Facebook and Instagram offers items at huge discounts or even free (sometimes requiring you to reblog or like their page). They just ask you to pay shipping. The scam: The item will turn out to be very low quality and will take weeks or even months to arrive. Sometimes the item never arrives, and the store disappears or stops responding. The seller drop-ships the item from China. The item may only cost a few dollars, and the Chinese government actually pays for the shipping. You end up paying $10-$15 dollars for a $4 item, with the scammer keeping the profit. If you find one of these scams but really have your heart set on the item, you can find it on AliExpress or another Chinese retailer.
Influencer scams
A user will reach out to you on a social media platform, usually Instagram, and offer you the chance to partner with them and receive a free/discounted product, as long as you pay shipping. This is a different version of the dropshipping scam, and is just a marketing technique to get you to buy their products.
Triangulation fraud
Triangulation fraud occurs when you make a purchase on a site like Amazon or eBay for an item at a lower than market price, and receive an item that was clearly purchased new at full price. The scammer uses a stolen credit card to order your item, while the money from the listing is almost all profit for the scammer.
Instagram influencer scams
Someone will message you on Instagram asking you to promote their products, and offering you a discount code. The items are Chinese junk, and the offer is made to many people at a time.
Cheap Items
Many websites pop up and offer expensive products, including electronics, clothes, watches, sunglasses, and shoes at very low prices. The scam: Some sites are selling cheap knock-offs. Some will just take your money and run. What to do if you think you're involved with this scam: Contact your bank or credit card and dispute the charge. How to avoid: The sites often have every brand-name shoe or fashion item (Air Jordan, Yeezy, Gucci, etc) in stock and often at a discounted price. The site will claim to be an outlet for a major brand or even a specific line or item. The site will have images at the bottom claiming to be Secured by Norton or various official payment processors but not actual links. The site will have poor grammar and a mish-mash of categories. Recently, established websites will get hacked or their domain name jacked and turned into scam stores, meaning the domain name of the store will be completely unrelated to the items they're selling. If the deal sounds too good to be true it probably is. Nobody is offering brand new iPhones or Beats or Nintendo Switches for 75% off.
Cheap Amazon 3rd Party Items
You're on Amazon or maybe just Googling for an item and you see it for an unbelievable price from a third-party seller. You know Amazon has your back so you order it. The scam: One of three things usually happen: 1) The seller marks the items as shipped and sends a fake tracking number. Amazon releases the funds to the seller, and the seller disappears. Amazon ultimately refunds your money. 2) The seller immediately cancels the order and instructs you to re-order the item directly from their website, usually with the guarantee that the order is still protected by Amazon. The seller takes your money and runs. Amazon informs you that they do not offer protection on items sold outside of Amazon and cannot help you. 2) The seller immediately cancels the order and instructs you to instead send payment via an unused Amazon gift card by sending the code on the back via email. Once the seller uses the code, the money on the card is gone and cannot be refunded. How to avoid: These scammers can be identified by looking at their Amazon storefronts. They'll be brand new sellers offering a wide range of items at unbelievable prices. Usually their Amazon names will be gibberish, or a variation on FIRSTNAME.LASTNAME. Occasionally however, established storefronts will be hacked. If the deal is too good to be true its most likely a scam.
Scams on eBay
There are scams on eBay targeting both buyers and sellers. As a seller, you should look out for people who privately message you regarding the order, especially if they ask you to ship to a different address or ask to negotiate via text/email/a messaging service. As a buyer you should look out for new accounts selling in-demand items, established accounts selling in-demand items that they have no previous connection to (you can check their feedback history for a general idea of what they bought/sold in the past), and lookout for people who ask you to go off eBay and use another service to complete the transaction. In many cases you will receive a fake tracking number and your money will be help up for up to a month.
Scams on Amazon
There are scams on Amazon targeting both buyers and sellers. As a seller, you should look out for people who message you about a listing. As a buyer you should look out for listings that have an email address for you to contact the person to complete the transaction, and you should look out for cheap listings of in-demand items.
Scams on Reddit
Reddit accounts are frequently purchased and sold by fraudsters who wish to use the high karma count + the age of the account to scam people on buy/sell subreddits. You need to take precautions and be safe whenever you are making a transaction online.
Computer scams
Virus scam
A popup or other ad will say that you have a virus and you need to follow their advice in order to remove it. They are lying, and either want you to install malware or pay for their software.

Assorted scams

Chinese Brushing / direct shipping
If you have ever received an unsolicited small package from China, your address was used to brush. Vendors place fake orders for their own products and send out the orders so that they can increase their ratings.
Money flipping
Scammer claims to be a banking insider who can double/triple/bazoople any amount of money you send them, with no consequences of any kind. Obviously, the money disappears into their wallet the moment you send it.

2020.10.23 03:52 JustSomeHumanThing Got a JJBA La Squadra OC I’d like to use for rps!~ Vento Aureo Canon and Original characters are welcome!

Greetings! I'm currently on the look out for rp partners that are interested in interacting with my La Squadra OC. I am perfectly fine with banters and au rps however I will not do original part rps.
/-Rules-/
- Please be patient with my replies. I occasionally have bad internet and I have bad time management skills, however if I don’t reply after a week, feel free to spam me.
-While La Squadra canon and ocs are preferred, I also welcome ocs associated with Passione
/- A Brief Info About My OC-/
Ciliegia Albero was born on February 14, 1982 as the youngest child of the Albero family; a very wealthy family that owns multiple business and has some influence within Naples. Before joining Passione out of boredom at the age of 17, Ciliegia was normal student and a scammer and pickpocket in her spare time with a rather unusual moral compass until she persuaded an acquaintance to help her enter the group. After passing the entrance exam and acquiring her Stand, Sleeping Siren, Ciliegia was then assigned to La Squadra di Esecuzione and later became loyal to the group.
