2020.11.24 23:11 ErestonT Hoping to get my first desktop after disappointing laptops, any help is very welcome

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?

2020.11.24 12:23 f00dl3 51 not 53 days?

So this storm and the last storm were 2 days ahead of schedule, I am thinking the surface component to this winter's pattern may cause it to be "realized" to be 51, not 53 days.

Nov 25 to 30 - Strong surge of warm air created by deepening storm bring thunderstorms, cold front blows through, heavy rain changing to snow on the 27th. Moderate accumulations of snow possible in KC.

Change that to Nov 23 to 25th - yeah....

Thunderstorms will be possible today with warm air surging in. Not hot but warm. Relative speaking. So models are now suggesting a heavy rainfall event later tonight into Wednesday morning as well as a comma head like feature tracks over us. Models handled temperatures terrible yesterday and it's not out of the question there could be some snowfall mixed in with the comma head tomorrow. Both NAM 3KM and Euro show 1-2" of rainfall for the KC metro, while GFS shows the comma head tracking way up over Southern Iowa/Southern Nebraska. Thunderstorms are starting to form right now (5:20 AM) near St Joe and stretching Southwest to Topeka.

0.29" of rain yesterday, peak rain rate was 0.26"/hr. KKSLENEX98

I do not at this time think we will have moderate accumulations of snow. Maybe a dusting at times if it is cold enough late tonight. But it appears things are warmer than I thought.

If this 51 day pattern continues to be evident I may have to adjust the dates for my forecast. I still think we should get snowy next month into February. There are concerns. But my gut says we will.

2020.11.24 05:35 joshhakala (Impossible?) Research project: USASA Women's Open Cup ... can you help?

The USASA's Women's Open Cup ran from 1980-2016 but was not an "Open Cup" in the traditional sense with professional teams mixed with amateur teams (no pro teams were able to take part -- stay tuned for a story about this in the near future). While researching the men's US Open Cup (1913-present), I went down a research rabbit hole about the Women's Open Cup and after putting in a lot of work, I need some help.
If you think the men's US Open Cup doesn't get enough media coverage (especially from the 1960s - the mid 1990s), imagine how much coverage a Women's Open Cup received. Unfortunately, just like the men's Open Cup, there is little to no record keeping from the tournament organizers.
My goal is to gather the results from every Women's Open Cup tournament. And I'm trying to keep it simple, by focusing on the regional tournaments (Regions I, II, III, IV) and the National Semis & Final. If I can find state tournament results, then that's a bonus. If I can find match details (goalscorers etc.), also a bonus.
If you know anyone who might be able to help fill in these gaps, let me know. Any small tidbit of information can help piece this puzzle together. Here's what I'm missing:
NOTE: A second tournament -- the Amateur Cup -- was created in roughly 1995 and the two competitions coexisted. So the challenge has been confirming which competition is which.
2012 USASA Women's Open Cup
2011 USASA Women's Open Cup
2010 USASA Women's Open Cup
2009 USASA Women's Open Cup
2008 USASA Women's Open Cup
2007 USASA Women's Open Cup
2006 USASA Women's Open Cup
2005 USASA Women's Open Cup
There are more (1980 - 2004) ... but this is a good start

2020.11.23 23:00 autotldr U.S. states prepping second antitrust lawsuit against Google for next month

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 11%. (I'm a bot)
2 Min Read.WASHINGTON - A bipartisan group of state attorneys general plans to file an antitrust lawsuit against Alphabet's Google as early as next month, according to two people briefed on the matter.
The lawsuit is separate from a widely anticipated Texas antitrust action that could also come before the end of the year.
The Justice Department filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google in October, and this group of states has said it planned to combine its case with the government's.
The states are Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Utah. One source said the states planned to file the lawsuit in federal court in mid to late December while the second said the target date was Dec. 15.The group has had an expansive probe underway into Google's businesses, including Android.
Google has broadly denied wrongdoing in response to the government's lawsuit and other probes, and said that its search engine and other products are dominant because consumers prefer them.
The states' expansive inquiry contrasts with the Justice Department's relatively narrow lawsuit, which focused on Google's efforts to build and retain its dominance in search and its search advertising business.

2020.11.19 22:54 a-lolololololololol Here’s a Timeline of the Presidential Certification Process That Trump Is Trying to Disrupt

https://www.nytimes.com/article/us-election-results-trump-biden.html
Here’s a breakdown of the certification deadlines and other key dates in battleground states, and what will happen between now and Inauguration Day.
Friday, Nov. 20: Georgia
There is a 5 p.m. Friday deadline for officials to certify election results in Georgia, which Mr. Biden won in a rare Democratic victory in the Deep South that has left Republicans deeply frustrated. The Georgia secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, a Republican, has said the state will meet the Friday deadline despite having conducted a time-consuming hand recount of the five million ballots cast there. Mr. Raffensperger is responsible for certifying the results, and he has fiercely defended the state’s electoral process against attacks from Mr. Trump. Mr. Trump’s campaign could still ask for a machine recount of the vote, but Mr. Biden’s lead is far larger than such a recount could be expected to overcome.
Monday, Nov. 23: Michigan, Pennsylvania, Maine
Mr. Biden won these three states, though Mr. Trump won one electoral vote in Maine’s Second Congressional District. In Michigan, the Board of State Canvassers has scheduled a meeting on Monday. The board’s task involves reviewing and certifying the results previously certified by canvassing boards in each county. Despite Republican protests over the certification of results in Wayne County, the state is expected to certify on time. For his part, Mr. Trump has invited Michigan Republican lawmakers to the White House for a discussion on Friday. Monday is also the deadline for counties in Pennsylvania to certify their totals and send them to Kathy Boockvar, the secretary of the commonwealth, who will certify the state results. Pennsylvania doesn’t have a hard deadline for when Ms. Boockvar must sign off, but there is no reason to expect a delay. Maine also has its certification deadline on Nov. 23, too, but there are no serious disputes there.
Tuesday, Nov. 24: Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio
This is the certification deadline for Minnesota, North Carolina and Ohio, none of which are expected to be contentious. Mr. Biden won Minnesota; Mr. Trump won North Carolina and Ohio.
Monday, Nov. 30: Arizona, Iowa, Nebraska
Arizona has to certify its results by this date, as do Iowa and Nebraska. Mr. Biden won Arizona, Mr. Trump won Iowa, and in Nebraska, Mr. Trump won statewide but Mr. Biden won one electoral vote in the state’s Second Congressional District. The Arizona Republican Party is trying to delay certification, pressuring county officials and asking a court to postpone certification in Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix. But in the absence of a court order — and, so far, the courts have rejected almost every Republican challenge across the country — counties are expected to certify on time and Katie Hobbs, the secretary of state and a Democrat, is expected to sign off on the final, statewide certification. No disputes are expected in Iowa or Nebraska that could delay certification.
Tuesday, Dec. 1: Nevada, Wisconsin
This is the deadline for Nevada and Wisconsin, both of which Mr. Biden won, to certify their results. In Nevada, the first step is for county commissioners to certify the results and send them to the secretary of state, who will present summaries to the Nevada Supreme Court. Ultimately, the governor will need to confirm the outcome. The Trump campaign has filed a lawsuit baselessly claiming that Mr. Trump actually won Nevada, and conservative groups are trying to nullify the results, but these claims are highly unlikely to lead anywhere. Wisconsin has already completed county-level certification, but the Trump campaign is seeking a partial recount, which, if it proceeds, should be complete by the deadline and is not expected to alter the results significantly. Once the recount is completed, the Wisconsin Elections Commission will meet to certify the results statewide.
Tuesday, Dec. 8
This is a key date in the democratic process: If states resolve all disputes and certify their results by Dec. 8, the results should be insulated from further legal challenges, ensuring that states won by Mr. Biden will send Biden delegates to the Electoral College. The certification processes leading up to this date vary from state to state, but the final step is the same everywhere under federal law: The governor of each state must compile the certified results and send them to Congress, along with the names of the state’s Electoral College delegates.
Monday, Dec. 14
Electors will meet on Dec. 14 in their respective states and cast their votes. This vote is, constitutionally, what determines the next president. Mr. Biden has 306 electoral votes to Mr. Trump’s 232. Many states formally require their electors to vote for the candidate they pledged to vote for, generally the winner of the state’s popular vote. Historically, rogue electors have been few and far between, and have never altered the outcome.
Wednesday, Jan. 6
Congress is ultimately responsible for counting and certifying the votes cast by the Electoral College, and it is scheduled to do so on Jan. 6. If there are still disputes at this point — if Republican legislators in a state were to appoint a pro-Trump Electoral College slate in opposition to voters’ will, for instance, and the Democratic governor of the state were to appoint a pro-Biden slate — it would be Congress’s job to resolve them. Election law experts say that under federal statute, the governor’s slate should be favored.
Wednesday, Jan. 20
Mr. Biden will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States.

2020.11.19 18:49 DonSolo96 Meet The Enemy: LSU Tigers

Date: 11/25/2020. Time: Noon PST. Place: Pinnacles Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska
Alma mater of the greatest QB in HISTORY, Joe Burrow (this is undeniable), the Tigers went 21-10 last season and are picked to finish 3rd this year in a wide-open SEC. Guards Javonte Smart (12.5ppg, 3.5 rpg) and Trendon Watford (13.6, 7.2 rpg) were preseason all-league picks by the SEC coaches. They add Shareef O'Neal (Shaq's son), who transferred from UCLA and was a five-star recruit there, and a five-star guard, Cameron Thomas, who was #23 in the ESPN 100 and averaged 31.5ppg at Oak Hill Academy last season. The Tigers were just outside of the USA Today and AP Top 25 polls, finishing just 14 points behind Michigan to be #26 in the AP. The athleticism of this team is absolutely off the charts.
Outside of the Zags, this is the best squad this USF team will play this season. An EXTREMELY tough matchup to open what I expect will be a VERY strange season.

2020.11.18 19:37 DonSolo96 USF announces renewal with KNBR

This release is dated today, yet it contains this quote from McDermott: " Despite the challenges this season has already faced, we are all eagerly counting down the days to hear Pat (Olson) calling the first Dons' game in less than three weeks."
So, when IS the season starting? Are we still playing in that MTE in Nebraska next week? When will the schedule be released? What a weird season this is going to be (if it even happens).

2020.11.18 00:24 Yularen2077 List of All US Presidents: Part 4 - PSA

Ever wonder who all the Presidents of the Pacific States are? Looking for an up to date guide? Well look no further!
Below you can find a list (with KRTL occupations, or if I could not find it, OTL), and portraits/bios, of all possible Presidents for the Pacific States.

Provisional Government

1937 - Provisional Election
The Pacific States of America is founded and lead by Provisional President Frank Merriam (Democrat), Governor of California. Its existence is dependent on a MacArthur Coup; no coup = no reason for the Pacific States to rise up. But Merriam will not stay as President for too long, calling for an election to elect a legitimate President, in contrast to MacArthur. Two candidates stand:
Hiram Johnson - Progressive, Senator from California
John Arthur Gellatly - Republican, Governor of Washington
Note about re-election. An incumbent President will automatically become the party’s nominee for that election year, being able to serve as President for a maximum of two terms (election cycles). What you see below are the candidates who are not incumbents.
Also, starting with the 1940 Election and every election thereafter, if the CSA and PSA both exist, and the CSA went Flynn’s Commonwealth and the PSA went Farmer-Labor in the election, as long as both are at peace, there is an event to reconcile the two countries and have the CSA annex the PSA.
Lastly, there is also a chance that the USA and PSA can reconcile. As long as McArthur returned civilian rule, and both countries are at peace, the USA will ask the PSA to reconcile and if agreed outright, the USA will annex the PSA. But the PSA can counter back, saying MacArthur deserves to rot in prison for his crimes against democracy before any reconciliation can happen. Refusing outright or demanding MacArthur imprisonment might lead to war.
Note as well that the Farmer-Labor candidates are all candidates in the USA elections as well. Earl Warren is also is a possible candidate as a Republican in the 1948 US Election.

1940

1940 Election
Henry Wallace – Farmer-Labor
Earl Warren – Progressive, San Francisco District Attorney
Culbert Olson – Progressive, California State Senator
Charles L. McNary – Progressive, Senator from Oregon
Emmett T. Anderson – Republican, Washington State Senator
John Arthur Gellatly – Republican, Governor of Washington
Howard Hughes – Republican, Industrialist
Robert Taylor Jones – Democrat, Governor of Arizona
Frank Merriam – Democrat, Senator from California

1944

1944 Election
Henry Wallace – Farmer-Labor
Philip La Follette – Farmer-Labor, Former Governor of Wisconsin
Earl Warren – Progressive, San Francisco District Attorney
Clarence D. Martin – Progressive, Former Governor of Washington
Oswald West – Progressive, Former Governor of Oregon. (Born in Canada)
Charles A. Sprague – Republican, Former Governor of Oregon
Ralph Lawrence Carr – Republican, Former Governor of Colorado
Robert Taylor Jones – Democrat, Former Governor of Arizona
Joseph Bracken Lee – Democrat, Former Governor of Utah

1948

1948 Election
Philip La Follette – Farmer-Labor, Former Governor of Wisconsin
Glen H. Taylor – Farmer-Labor, Congressman from Idaho
Monrad Wallgren – Progressive, Governor of Washington (?)
Clyde Tingley – Progressive, Governor of New Mexico
Arthur B. Langlie – Republican, Washington State Senator (?)
Douglas McKay – Republican, (OTL eventual Governor of Oregon)
Fletcher Bowron – Republican, Mayor of Los Angeles
Daniel I. J. Thornton – Democrat, Rancher
Bourke B. Hickenlooper – Democrat, Former Governor of Iowa
Note that Taylor’s portrait, while bugged (comes up blank), is the same as his USA’s, so I substituted it here, and in 1952. Also, the Republican Primary is bugged: Choosing McKay will instead give Bowron, and choosing Bowron gives Gellatly. I was unable to get McKay’s bio but did extract his portrait.

1952

1952 Election
Philip La Follette – Farmer-Labor, Former Governor of Wisconsin
Glen H. Taylor – Farmer-Labor, Congressman from Idaho
Victor Aloysius Meyers – Progressive, Lt. Governor of Washington
Andrew W. Hockenhull – Former Governor of New Mexico
Richard Nixon – Republican, Representative from California
George N. Craig – Republican, Governor of Indiana
Harry P. Cain – Democrat (OTL Mayor of Tacoma, Washington)
Val Peterson – Democrat, Governor of Nebraska
Note that Craig’s portrait is missing, so I substituted an OTL picture of him. Cain uses a European generic leader portrait and has no bio, so I substituted an OTL picture as well.
---
Part 1 - The US and MacArthur Coup Part 2 - AUS and Commonwealth Part 3 - CSA and Butler Coup Part 4 - PSA Part 5 - New England Bonus - Hawaii Bonus - Puerto Rico
---
Look out for the last part tomorrow, New England. Hope you liked this one as well, Thank you!

2020.11.17 00:53 iharas_pothos SOS - longest application period yet.

I am doing my best not to panic and feel a lot better since 45 got voted out. However, this is my third time renewing and it's almost been 10 months since my application was initially received. I lost my EAC back in January and applied right away (yes, I know, very dumb and irresponsible - don't come for me, my mom already did that for everyone). My case has been under review since February 26, 2020. I had my biometrics taken mid-Feb and then nothing. Obviously with COVID, I knew things were going to take a little longer, I've consistently tried to contact USCIS since July about my case and they told me not to worry until it fell out of normal processing times. When I called USCIS after it fell out of the 8 month processing time for the Nebraska service center, the e-mail I received stated that they are processing applications by expiration dates (mine doesn't expire until next March). Every time I call USCIS, it seems like they're reading off some BS script and aren't very helpful. I want to switch jobs and get my drivers license, but I can't without my work authorization card. I would appreciate any insight or help. :(
